Not only does Selena Gomez sound bored in Come and Get It, but she sounds even more like a stereotypical late-teens/early 20s (then again, she was 20 when this song was made to piss off people with its masochism and tryhard suggestiveness coming from a recently former kids-centered pop star) who lives with other 20s roommates (which in real life, according to a recent Ellen interview the year after, she said she kinda does, but for the most part, she lives alone because of the way she handled her income, and some would think she either lived with her parents and younger sisters BY A COUPLE OF DECADES or with other young women like Swift Squad members such as Taylor Swift and Cara Delevingne!) and had an angry breakup with a very young man she only saw as a friend (even though in the lyrics, she’s clearly doing none other than telling the guy to go fuck her, and there’s no other theme in the movie besides it) even IF she weren’t trying to get in her pants when she said no thanksZ

The more I hear 'We Can't Stop' the more sure I become that it's completely intentional. Surely you cannot possibly make a party song that desperate and depressing on accident? Like, unless you're practically forcing yourself to take everything it says at face value, it instantly becomes the most vicious teardown of the 'party high' lifestyle ever sung. Seriously, not even 'I took a pill in Ibiza' makes drug use sound this depressing and unattractive. It sounds like a desperate cry for help poorly disguised as a party anthem, which is honestly kind of a perfect metaphor for the entire lifestyle.

I mean, of the songs I've bothered listening to, it just kinda sounds like she got herself sucked down this hellish spiral and can't climb out, just deeper down into it. We believe ya Todd. You definitely do not watch the show where a normal girl with a talent in singing gets into an arts school. I don't either.

I can't watch The I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) One Hit Wonderland because it's blocked in my country due to copyrighted material from WMG. It's only been up for one minute....

These songs defined 2013/14 for me. Nostalgic

So when Todd says that Selena’s song sounds no different than when she was at Disney, that’s because this song and album were made by Disney. As it was produced by the Disney owned Label Hollywood Records.

I like we can't stop specifically because it is so despondent, really caught my mood at that time

I unironically liked Bangerz AND Stars Dance. They were decent albums with some genuine bops. Does it have substance? Hell no, but I don't listen to Miley or Selena for substance or any deep meaning, I listen to them if I feel like getting drunk and dancing or to just shut my brain off. Nothin wrong with that. *shrug*
