The people in the samples sound like they are reading a response they actually spent several minutes composing. They don't pause, they don't stumble, they don't correct themselves or lose their train of thought, which are all things that will happen to a real person who has to summarize (even in their native language) a huge amount of information that has literally only just been dumped on them in the span of one minute. Maybe you get better at it with practice - I'm going to try - but right now I feel like this section of TOEFL is asking for a bit too much.

Thank you very much for explaining how to address speaking question one. I do agree that it is important to provide a clear statement with two strong reasons and relevant examples. Here is my speaking response to the same question. I would prefer to have the same job my entire life for two reasons (personal preference): Firstly, I would be able to master all of the necessary job-related skills, and this would make my job significantly easier than ever before (reason 1). For example, I would start working as a builder in a small firm under the supervision of experienced colleagues (relevant example). By working with them all the time, I would learn how to build high-quality houses and make a lot of customers happy (the benefit of this approach). Secondly, I would have a higher chance of being promoted because of my newly acquired skills (reason 2). Referring back to the previous example, I might learn how to operate big construction machinery, which might help me be promoted to a senior position (relevant example). By contrast, switching from one job to another might deprive me of the benefits mentioned above (show the lack of the benefits indicated above).

Thank you for your help during my preparation to take the TOEFL online. I took the emergency crash course and I just have a comment on the speaking part that I believe was not clearly explained in your course and that is the fact that in the speaking section (for the online version) you are only allowed to speak for exactly the allowed time, for example 60 sec, which might finish in the middle of a sentence or idea and that is very distracting and I was not expecting it. Anyway just in case you should mention it so your trainees know what to expect in that case.

Thank you for commenting. Much depends on your current ability level. You can't get a high score with just a basic level of English. In general, when students are at a lower level of proficiency and need a high score on the TOEFL (80+), they should work on the basics of English first. I would suggest investing time in a site like LingQ where you can do some extensive practice that is not connected to the TOEFL, that way you can build your skills and vocabulary with text that is a little bit easier before moving ahead with the TOEFL. www.lingq.com/
