Showa Riders dont stay dead.. Show Super Sentai as far as I know do, Kiranger 2, Battle Cossak 1. P Production liked having its heroes sacrifice themselves in the end. Not sure how many times Ultraman Taro has died, but Zoffy hast at least once. Leo's death had to be excruciating. Mother of Ultra and Ultraman King wont let them stay dead.

Apparently I am very slow, took me 50 years to realize why Riderman has to die. He was Kamen Rider #4. To be fair in the 1970s I didnt know that 4 and death use same symbols in Japanese. Of course Riderman doesnt stay dead. In fact all of the Showa Kamen Riders refuse to stay dead, but then neither does their enemy, he keeps coming back.

@@stuartjohnson5686 not the same symbol, just similar pronunciation. they use the same Kanji (Chinese character), in which four and death sounds similar, or sounds exactly the same, depends on it is Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin, and many more...), Japanese, Korean or Vietnamese. But Chinese and Japanese still use characters, so death and four are different charaters: 死 and 四, where Korean and Vietnamese's (modern) writings are phonetic, (much like most existing languages in the world), in these case, their phonetic writings could be same/similar.

I was almost moved to tears by Episode 2-- KRs V1 & V2 sacrificed themselves by lifting Turtle Zooka into the air and allowing the nuclear bomb to explode offshore, thus sparing Tokyo. Yaaayy!!! After appearing as apparitions to V3, they say they'll return one day, and for him to continue the battle against Destron. I have a feeling there's more to them than meets the eye. All of them 1,2, V3, Riderman, X, Amazon, Stronger and Skyrider supposedly blew up carrying a dragon into space. But they showed up in Kamen Rider Super-1 movie thought no in the series. Then they are all in the ZX special il though only have of them are there not in battle mode. And finally they show up at end of Kamen Rider Black RX. which is odd since thats really supposed to be in a different universe but hey if the other guys can put Utraman and Ultraseven in the same universe with The Ultraman Who Returned who was supposed to be the same as the first Ultraman not a third person why cannot Toei throw as many of their characters together as they like. BTW the first Toei crossover was the JAKQ vs Goranger movie which also mentions that Kikaida, Kamen Rider V3 and Kamen Rider Amazon are fighiing the evil group CRIME in other parts of the world thus linking the Kamen Riders and Kikaida (and by extension Kikaida-01) to the Super Sentai universe,

The most notable non-Showa example would be Faiz, who died in the end of his show, only to appear in subsequent crossovers. One of them actually explained that it's a Shocker machine keeping him alive via time loop or something, but he eventually embraces death and passes on... only to be ressurected via time travel in Zi-O. And now he's got a 20th aniversary special coming Currently, there are only 3 dead primary Riders who have yet to come back and stay alive
