All I can say about this series is - wow. What an absolute gem. I'm currently going through a rough patch with a family member and this helped restore my faith. Hospice isn't about people going there to die; it's ultimately about giving them the best quality of life possible during their last days on Earth before they begin their next journey in the afterlife. This series almost makes me want to become a palliative care/hospice nurse specialist.

We do have this in America. I work for Good Shepard Hospice House and Homecare. It is a nonprofit facility.

We do have this in America. We used it for my father. They provided any and all equipment he needed from walkers to hospital bed. All medications including the painkillers were provided. And hospice was here around the clock.

Not everyone gets into a hospice as it's not part of our health service. They aren't funded, and sadly, many do not benefit and simply pass in hospital

I’m so sorry. My dad died last year after being admitted to the hospital for chemo. He died within 2 months of diagnosis. We used hospice but he never made it to the facility because he died the same day we started with hospice.

Hospice people are human angels. I can't say much more because I'm crying with grateful emotion. Thank you for all kind, compassionate, patient people. I am 80, and recently had a serious vascular surgery. Which was scary, but I seem to be recovering well, even though living alone. I have cared for myself alone, with no help or human comfort. or someone to talk with. So seeing this video of other people being helped .... really touched my heart. The people in this video are in the UK, so I don't know if this extensive help is available to me in the U.S. I'm scared as things are falling apart. And I must care for myself, and have been for years, with no one around. Especially since Covid. I've been alone for 40 years, so am used to it, but being old, alone, and not able to walk well is very, very hard. I wish I could talk to someone about it. Thank you.

Given the high costs of healthcare, assisted living facilities, home healthcare, what an immense comfort, relief it must be for people suffering serious, often terminal illness, and their families, friends to know there is such a caring, competent facility and staff to rely on.

I don't know. I was being helped by an organisation before and during COVID and it hasn't recovered to the point that it is doing the same work it used to. It was one of the few organisations that work with mentally I'll people who need more than an employability course to start working again. It took you when you were too ill to even think about working, you were there for 2 years and hopefully you would have come on so far that you could get into work or further education. I know that's where I would've gotten to without COVID. Now I don't think they have the funding for 2 years. They've also stopped working with a charity which ran a young adults programme as well. They are trying to run it themselves now. It is more catered for work ready mentally ill people. Rather than people like me when I started. It is a shame. We had management problems though.

Why exclude the world from this wonderful series? any way KZbin keeps suggesting other episodes any way at times. LOL When even the UK and The Netherlands cant come together. And now I am going to see this episode that is just suggested.

Some people are delusional and think medicine can perform miracles. They are convinced that hospice is out to kill people and can't be convinced otherwise.

I'm on palliative care but all I'm allowed is my sleep meds. My Dr's prescribe all other meds for me. Not getting service like these since I'm not on hospice side of things which is a shame because being chronically ill I suffer daily too. 😢

This doctor who is afraid of dogs - maybe they can try to work with him. First, let him see a puppy - needy and defenseless - and so warm and cute. He would take care of it every day, with help of others, then he would see that as animal is growing, it absolutely adores him, and loves him, in it's own canine way. It would maybe help with his fear.
