Thanks for the quick and easy to follow tutorial. Just what I needed. I did have an issue where it would start in the first person view but the camera acted like the third person cam where I can spin around and see my face but I seemed to have fixed that by going into the detail panel for the cameras and unchecking "auto activate" for the fps cam and keeping it checked on the third person one. If you have any tutorial examples for dialogue trees or like a simple fetch quest, I'd love to see them.

I had the same issue however used your method to fix, it does set the starting camera to 3rd person by default even with "B" from the flip flob going to "set active" at the top. Would you know how to fix this?

I've done everything in the video, but when i go first person and turn around with my mouse, i can see inside my characters body meaning that it's like the camera isn't connected to the mesh fully.

same happened to me, not sure why, so I went to the third person character blueprint where you added the camera, then under add component, you will see thirdpersoncharacter(self) click that, then in the details panel, scroll down and under the heading pawn, you will see use controller rotation, tick that, and all will be resolved.

The only thing I changes was instead of the flip flop, I went from InputAction -> Branch (Condition First Person Camera is Active) - True: Same as the top. False, same as bottom. It's a lot better imo

No problem, glad you found it helpful. And absolutely, you’d get a reference to the box trigger inside of the third person character, and get an Event BeginOverlap, and then do the same you did previously, so set active camera third person to true, and set active camera, first person to false or the other way around. So it’s essentially the same code as before, just with a begin overlap event instead of the ‘V’ key. Hope it works and let me know if you need extra help, like a video explaining it better

Sure, no problem, always happy to help :D if you have the box trigger selected in your level, and then go back to your third person character, if you then right click and search for event begin overlap, you should hopefully see it, if you do click it, if not let me know and I’ll make a video on it explaining it better. Also if you want to change the camera back when you leave the box trigger, get an event endoverlap, and do the same thing as before, but just obviously swap around the cameras

Thanks a bunch for the tutorial! I'm a newbie to UE and I'm trying to do the Box Trigger camera toggle from First to Third person. But I don't seem to understand how it works.. for some reason my Third Person camera stays in place when I trigger the Box Trigger but for First Person it toggles smoothly. Hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble if you could make a video on Box Trigger camera toggle as I couldn't find the solution anywhere :(

i followed your steps and got it working like you did but for some reason when i start my test play if i hit (E) it changes my view to a orbital like action where my camera rotates with my mouse but in front of my persons face this only happens at the start of the run though if i hit (V) it corrects it and smoothly transitions between the fp and tp views. Is there a way to not get this issue to happen at the start is what im wondering

No problem, happy to help! I'm not sure why it would be inverted. Although to put it back, off of your "InputAxis LookUp" you could get a branch, and have the condition as a Boolean of "IsFirstPerson" which you can set to true when you enter first person, and false when you enter third person. Then off of true and false for this branch go into an "Add Controller Pitch Input". The value for these will be a "Float*Float" with the top float as the "Axis Value" from the "InputAxis". Then for the one off true, the bottom float will be 1 and the false it will be -1, or if this doesn't work, then it will be the other way around. Hope this helps and fixes the issue :)

For some reason my character only use a forward animation. If I press D I move to the right but the animation is like if I were moving forward. How can I fix this? Happens both in FP and TP

Hey, that would be because of the basic animation set up given by default. If you want more advanced directional movement, for example strafing left and right, I have a video on that which I'll link here. I also did another part with turn in place. Hey, can you maybe explain more what you mean? I've loaded up a first person blueprint, as it has the gun in it, and set up the camera switch, it seemed to work perfectly. I only had to add 'Set Use Controller Rotation Pitch' to true on the third person camera, and false when going back to the first person. Is this your issue?
