Tohatsu MFS2.5/3.5

Tohatsu's MFS2.5 and MFS3.5 follow the Tohatsu Design Philosophy for Marine Products of Simpliq™ Technology: Affordable, Edgy and Static.
With ergonomically designed front and back carrying handles, one handle is positioned slightly lower than the other to allow for easy carry and transportation. These models can be stored in three different positions (port, front and starboard side down) without worrying about oil spills.
The 2.5 and 3.5 hp Tohatsu 4-strokes are the perfect outboard for a small canoe, dinghy, or sailboat.

I have the Mercury variant of this motor, most fun Ive ever had since our big boat engine blew up. I even forgot to break it in and still it starts 2nd pull every time and gets my boat on plane so quick I have to hold on! I love this motor.

I have the 3.5 and it’s a great kicker motor for my boat. Can you get kit to convert these to attach a hose from an external fuel can?

The MFS3.5 utilizes only an internal fuel tank. There is no kit to convert to an external fuel can.

Does it also start in forward position or is than a gear save engaged?

The MFS2.5/3.5 can either start in neutral or forward, depending on the shifter and throttle settings.

Everyone talks about how fast their motor goes, I want to know how slow will it go. My 21-year-old Honda 2hp at the lowest idle will push my 17' Alumicraft canoe 2.2 mph which is about the perfect trolling speed for me and how I run my boat 90% of the time. Why is it so hard to get data on the low-end speed of motors and different small boats?

Sam, our 2.5hp should perform at the same in-gear speed as your current motor. Haul efficiency varies based on boat type, pitch and propeller - so you often don't see general data published. Thanks for the recommendation!

Do you have a bracket to mount on a Viking kayak?

Hello! We do not carry brackets, so I would recommend checking with your kayak manufacturer or local kayak store. Our allowable transom thickness is 30-58mm (1.18-2.28 in) for the MFS2.5/3.5.
