this is what i needed to see, thanks. Took me going through 50 or more vid's before this one came up. The others had the flange already installed. I wanted to see it from cutting it down. thanks

Very helpful. Even my plumber could not figure out how to install the floor drainage toilet. This saved the day.

Pretty sure the issue you ran across with the 4th concrete screw was you hit a piece of metal re-rod bar. they lay that through out the concrete when they pour it. Great video BTW, very step by step, clear and to the point thanks!

Thanks for the very specific directions. Easier than I thought it would be!

thanks. measure twice and cut once go slow you can do it.

If you could not drill down you may have hit some of the rebar that is used to hold the concrete together.
@GothicEchoT13 жыл бұрын
Good comments. Great video in detail. Your 4th screw may have also meant you needed another bit. The bits get ate up fast in concrete. The same with metal I went throug cobalt bits changing out an old style balljoint. The rivets just are them up.

I think it hit rebar or a rock.
@porchemasi4 жыл бұрын
if you had opportunity is it best to install the flange on the concrete floor or ontop of the finished tile floor?
@gregs_garage4 жыл бұрын
probably both would work. May be cleaner to mount on finished floor rather than tiling around the flange.

Are people still caulking around the base of the toilet and the ground? Very good video. I've never started a project from the beginning before. Does anyone know of a site I could go to that would help out? I want to do a bathroom downstairs and I'm starting from just the capped pipes coming from the floor?
@gregs_garage5 жыл бұрын
Tim Agnello I don’t think you need to caulk around the bottom. For your project I would just start and tackle each problem as it comes. None of us were born knowing how to do any of this!
@jamesc12835 жыл бұрын
I was told once that if you do caulk, only do it around the sides and front - leave the back open. That way if you do develop a leak you’ll see it, and the water won’t be trapped under the toilet.

Could be a piece of rebar as to why you couldn't drill in the concrete.
@gregs_garage4 жыл бұрын
maybe. Or a rock

Another reason could be the you hit rocks that was mixed with concrete, I'm trying to do same thing and is a pain to go through the rocks...
@gregs_garage4 жыл бұрын
either rebar or a rock. it is a pain and 20% of the time it seems to happen

This looks very similar to what my builder roughed in my basement. Did you already have a soil stack, or was it necessary to tie in to your existing stack?

yes. I wonder what happens if you shoot one of those gun nails into it?

put the wax ring on the toilet not the flange. you want to guarantee a good seal.

I wouldn't use glue for that connection. You may have to remove it in the future. Silicone might be a better choice.

Could have been a stupidly hard rock. Even a small super hard rock in the mix will stop the most determined concrete drill bit.
