A refreshing Bengali dal recipe: As spring turns to summer in the lower-Gangetic plains, people start preparing for the oppressive heat of the months to come. Cooling foods slowly start getting incorporated into the diet to combat the rising temperatures. But perhaps nothing signals the arrival of spring in Bengal than the kalboishakhi-spells of late-afternoon thunderstorms that are localized to the region. One byproduct of this north-westerly cyclone is that it causes a lot of mangoes to prematurely fall off trees. While that is not good news for ardent lovers of this fleshy, tropical fruit, it gives us an opportunity to prepare a rather delightful tok dal out of the unripe, sour, green mangoes.

I tried this today, turned out very yummy. I used jaggery instead of sugar. It was quite similar to our gujrati daal, where we use lemon or kokam for sourness instead of raw mango. I made this with rice and pumpkin karela sabji also from your channel.

I love to watch your channel....never seen a better cookery channel than this. Tried this aam dal recipe and my whole family finished off the rice with only this this and bhindi bhaja. Here in Bangladesh we also cook tok dal too. Sometimes with 'kacha aam' and at times with 'amra' . Amrar dal tastes so good

Kaancha aam Diye masoor dal is every ones fav at out house. It's like a must have almost every other day in Summers. After watching this video I m again get craving to have some of this Daal... Let's c if I manage to Source some Raw mangoes at this time of the year... Shouldn't be very difficult though to find here in Mumbai. We exactly follow the same recipe as u guys did and the taste is😋😋😋. That small daal bora n aloo seddho 😍😍😍😍😍

I follow the exact same way. The only thing i do is i marinate the mango pieces with little salt and turmeric powder like my mother lwwys do. This recipe is super simple and yet super delicious! my all time favorite recipe.
