Hey, thanks! I’m not sure if there is a Sony E mount version of this or not. It is an autofocus lens and it’s for APS-C sensors. Although it’s not built for it, I have had some luck at 15-16mm on full frame sensors though.

@@ajwilliamsmedia thank you for you reply I have an interesting question I have not considered until now, Full Frame Lend still e mount, does the final cropped view give a better "Creamy middle" the better part of the lenses is usually the middle parts? just curious, for example I wanted a 14mm view I might for get a 20mm lens in full frame accept I might end up getting a sharper view because I'm not viewing the outer areas of the lens...sorry if this is a beginner question, have you ever tried it, is it true? thanks again
@ajwilliamsmedia
@ajwilliamsmedia 10 күн бұрын
I think you might be asking about the vetting that’s happens when you put a crop frame lens onto a full frame sensor. That definitely happens with this lens, but not as much as other lenses.
@EVERYTHING-TECH-411
@EVERYTHING-TECH-411 10 күн бұрын
thanks so full frame lens on ZVE10 may not really be an advantage like I thought, its probably better to keep it simple and use crop lens on crop sensor.... learning all this stuff is definitely different from computer tech, but very interesting.

If you think you might want to upgrade to a full frame Sony later, I’d go with a full frame lens. Other than that, it’s really just extra spending for not much return.

If you want to take the extra time and energy to make those stitched images, good on you! Nothing wrong with that. Wide angles will always have a place for single exposure photography and video work though. I do mostly video work, so I use wide angle lenses all the time.

It's funny. I already have this lens, but need to replace it because I dropped it, camera and all, over a sea wall. It still works, but it makes a noise when zooming. I wouldn't be bothered about lens noise on video - but maybe that because of the nature of what I do. But, onboard mics are not the best way to film if possible. Nice enthusiastic video.

Thanks for such a detailed review. I'm looking to do some Milky way photography with a Nikon D7500 but am confused whether to buy a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 or a Tokina 11-20 f2.8. I've read some pretty good reviews about the 11-16 but also that it gives a hard time to focus at infinity, although you mentioned that the latest version of this lens doesn't have that issue. Kindly advise which lens should I go with?
@ajwilliamsmedia
@ajwilliamsmedia 3 жыл бұрын
I actually did some testing on this issue recently. It seems that you can turn the focus ring beyond infinity which is causing some people to think that there is a focus problem on the 11-16mm. I also did some Astro photography with the 11-16mm and had fantastic results. I also recently reached out to Tokina to see if they’d lend me a 11-20mm. But im fairly certain that they are the same as far as mechanics go. So I’d guess that they’re similar in infinite focus as well.
@sourityadas

I would imagine it would perform similarly to the canon 80d. They have very similar specs. Thanks for this great review my friend. I really want to buy this lens, but can you tell me two things. Is it possible to use manual focus to stop the focus noise and combine that with a smaller aperture, such as f4 and still be able to vlog or record stuff outside and get more depth of field for when we move around and eliminate the focussing noise that way. Also have you had any problems with coramic abboration and is it easily fixed in post on video and photos. Ok I know I spelt that wrong. 😁
@ajwilliamsmedia
@ajwilliamsmedia 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Because the lens is so wide, I don’t really have issues with focus noise because it doesn’t have to hunt a lot. Using manual focus at f3.5 or higher is a great idea to get rid of the noise altogether. I do get chromatic aberration from time to time, but it’s usually an indicator that it’s time to clean the lens. Thanks so much for watching! Hope that helps✌🏽

@A J Williams Media. Hi again. I bought the lens off Amazon, the new atx-i version. Unfortunately i did not get to use it till a couple months after I bought it, so outside of Amazon one month limit to get it replaced. The auto focus has not worked at all since it was new out the box. No beep from the camera, no motor noise, nothing. The manual focus works fine. I always use back button focus on my Canon 80D, since it is so much more useful. I can put any other lens of mine on the camera and the auto focus works with all those. There's nothing at all on the internet about this lens not working at all. Have I got a dud? Having said that, I don't mind using manual focus, but it's so frustrating that this big part of a lens doesn't work for when I ever need to use it. Any ideas why auto focus don't work?

Sounds like a lens flare. Is there a bright light in front of the lens causing it flare? If so, try using the included lens hood. That depends on what you need it for. I think of photo gear as tools for getting a job done. I tend to use these lenses for video and hate having to adjust light when I zoom, so the Canon is out. If you need it for low light, the Tokina wins out. If low light isn’t as important as a wider lens that also has more reach I’d definitely consider the Sigma. The point is, think about what you’ll use it for. If you are just getting into photography, think about the kinds of photos you like taking or want to take and buy for that.

This lens is comparable to the canon 10-18mm. The difference is that the Tokina has a fixed minimum aperture at f:2.8. I think it also has less distortion too. The canon gets a bit wider and a bit tighter on the zoom though. I’d say this lens is a perfect match for the 7D Mii.

I thinked 11-20 gives a lil more possibilities and its more flexible in some situation. I already have sigma 18-35, but, for example, when i cant take two lenses with me on shooting, tokina 11-20 can help with some more closer shots vs 11-16. I have this lens and some other wide zooms for apsc but it does not really give the best results. Very high chromatic aberration across the whole focal range and work against bright light is dreadful. I compared it against my fullframe setup so a Nikon 14-24 f2.8. All my apsc wide zooms were slaughtered. Sharpness edge to edge, coma, AF performance etc. I think that apsc is great for tele and wildlife but for wide angle landscapes fullframe is the way to go.
