Would you have tried the foot onsen? :-) This is the last video of this Tohoku series, after watching all 3 videos, which place would you like to visit most?

Ginzan. Not a second thought in my mind. It looks gorgeous, the night time makes it seem ethereal in a sense, and a walk up to Yamadera seems like a good way to clear your head as you look around at the view from above.

SPIRITED AWAY!!! Of course Onsen gives it away and the music used as Emma walks over the path to the waterfall sounds very Ghibli to me. But anime's aside this place looks beautiful and calming even with all those stairs at the end. I hope you guys had a great time and I look forward to more as always.

At 3:50 that's a shrine not the mine. The mine is further up the foot trail on the left side of the waterfall. There is also a memorial statue to the mines discoverer, a fertility shrine, and graveyard on the same footpath. I love the relaxing vibe of this place and that it beautiful hiking trails the loop into and out of the village.

Ginzan was so awesome when we were there, in the winter the road leading to it is just 2 walls of snow! Access to a lot of those other areas was blocked by the feet of snow! There was a No-Face Cosplayer outside of the big ryokan in towards the middle handing out gold candy as well!

Hey, Just coming back on the postcard thing. I've been to Japan 5 times now and every single time I sent my postcards as they are and not in envelopes, they all got to their destinations in Ireland, France and the UK. So I guess I've been lucky. But hey it works.
@aibadotcom5 жыл бұрын
Did you send the standard rectangle postcards? It's the odd-shaped postcards (Gotochi postcards) that you can't send overseas unless they're in an envelope. But I did send a Gotochi postcard as it is from Hokkaido to a friend in Malaysia and it reached just fine. Guess it's a gamble.
@VirtuallyReality5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for visiting Yamagata! Ginzan is so close to where I live, you must visit in winter! There's something strange about sitting in an open air onsen, naked, and surrounded by snow. Next time, please let me be your mountain guide, we have so many to climb.

Awesome video and series you guys, this is the one onsen town I want to visit on my next trip. xD Though I'm hearing it's getting pretty famous and crowded these days, for very good reasons it seems. Still... I'm a bit curious about something. Lots of people talk about Ghibli and Chihiro when it comes to onsen towns and locations. Perhaps because I've watched it too many times, for something to be like Chihiro, it has to: 1. you gotta get there through some tortuous mountain road; 2. have some sort of abandoned matsuri or street with food stalls on entrance; 3. have a long and large wooden bridge leading to the isolated onsen; 4. be a traditional kinda building like a pagoda. Weird that you mentioned it, but didn't actually shot the perspective that looks the most like it - Notoya Ryokan. For those curious, look up for photos of it. I mean, I know this has more to do with every single onsen and ryokan reminding people of Chihiro in general... and that the one in the movie is purely fictional, drawing inspiration from several places, so probably nothing quite like it. But this town needs no references... it's magical particularly in winter at night.
