With no high ground in The Caymans (Crocodile Islands) I would not want to be there during a direct hit. It most likely will leave Jamaica in one to two hours as it is now south of West Land and heading west. Why was there no mention of evacuation on Cayman Island. It's the only thing which makes sense with out high ground unless the inhabitants are well prepared.

Some one liked my comment. TY. But it brought me back to this earlier post and so I can update. The Eye and surrounding hurricane winds and raised sea has now passed and is heading further west away from The Crocodile Caymen Isles. My charts show that The Caymens were very lucky as the Hurricane eye passed by to the south off shore about 80 miles and the south and west coastal lands experienced a breeze. As far as can be seen nothing big hit except maybe some ocean surge and some strong gusts. But the main even passed by making a lot of noise off shore. The strongest substaind winds to brezze across the Island were only 55mph. Enough to blow a few hats off. But nothing dangerouse. It was catorgory 1 substained winds at 100meters above sea level and as the flat Island is generally no higher than 10 to 16 meters then it's low laying nature may have saved it. Apart from any crocodiles which could have washed in land a bit on a surge wave or two. Well done all. Any storys would be interesting apart from over alarmist Hollywood dramatisations which I would watch as entertainment. LOL. Jamaica also did not receive the full storm apart from some rain. But there they declared Jamaica a 'disaster' hours before the the storm was maybe going to hit. But as with the Caymens it brezzed by off shore mostly and only came inland for about an hour in west Jamaica before going out again. But there was some pandamonium at the Kingston web cam as those visiting couldn't find the so called major storm. LOL. Because it did not hit.
