Michael Collins was a very complicated man, but above everything else he was a hero and loved Ireland with his whole self and I'm sure he and Tom Barry, working together could have made Ireland whole, if given a chance and time. Thank you, Davy

Tom Barry used Michael Collins' nephew as his lawyer, Tom Barry also unveiled the monumen to Michael Collins in front of 20 thousand people at Sams cross in 1965

Michael Collins is one of the greatest of Irelands heroes .. he gave his life at 31 for the cause he fervently believed in.. So few today have this fine man’s courage.. so sad it is that so many have died .. Thank you most ardently for all you do to keep Irish history alive.. you are much appreciated and loved for what you do.. God Bless you and keep you safe always 🌹☘️ Jen999💙

Thanks Davy great clips as always - sean lemass in the 60s became taoiseach, he was involved in bloody sunday shootings of the british intelligence, anyway his time in office, ireland had a bit of a economic boom, asked in an interview how he did this he said, all i did was i implemented the econmic plans that collins ,my boss had written up for after the war ended, he wrote up over 30 i guess business plans for ireland, all during the war of independence etc - there is an interview on you tube with sean lemass saying this,

I as a Northern Catholic i am torn over Michael. He was a great leader of men.But he signed away the North. Our Southern brothers and sisters don't really care about us up North, but our capital is Dublin,we are not brits like the North Louth ones call us.At least the Gaa is 32 counties.God bless us a united Eire.Irish by birth ,South Armagh by the grace of God.

I wonder what Collins would say about Dáil Éireann, Seanad Éireann or any Co Council in Ireland today. I'd say he and Eamonn Develera would be disgusted.

Although I respect him in many ways, he sold out when he signed the treaty, & ultimately his death warrant..

@@user-rb4ug9le2i He didn't need to be a plenipotentiary, especially when he realised what Dev was up to.. After all, he wasn't a stupid man, easily manipulated.. He also knew it's not what the Rising leaders would have done, so basically sold out.. Éamonn Ceannt famously said, "I leave for the guidance of other Irish Revolutionaries who may tread the path which I have trod this advice, never to treat with the enemy, never to surrender at his mercy, but to fight at a finish. I see nothing gained but grave disaster caused by the surrender which has marked the end of the Irish Insurrection of 1916 - so far at least as Dublin is concerned. The enemy has not cherished one generous thought for those, who with little hope, with poor equipment, and weak in numbers, withstood his forces for one glorious week. Ireland has shown she is a Nation. This generation can claim to have raised sons as brave as any that went before. And in the years to come Ireland will honour those who risked all for her honour at Easter 1916." Perhaps it's you that doesn't have a clue..
