I love his music. They were all outstanding. Ms. Smith was amazing, I loved her vocals on Funkin' for Jamaica. May she rest in peace.

As a professional photographer I captured many pictures from great musicians/ artists. In my top10 of live stages shots, my favorite and most remarkable photo is the photo I took from Tom during his concert in The Delft Jazz Festival. I was on stage with my earplugs in front of the biggest speaker. What happened there was amazing and real art! Forever this great picture will synchronized to Tom and his only biggest hit in musical history! Thanks you so much Tom. We are always connected! Stay strong and healthy as long as possible! With musical and kindly regards, Ron Jenner from the Netherlands.

Never knew they sang about a neighborhood called Jamaica. I always thought it was odd this was about Jamaica and not being a reggae song ;-)

I am from Brooklyn, NY and I did not even know that the song was about Jamaica, Queens for a long time. I should have known because New York radio stations at that time will play songs from the locals heavy.

He's recorded some great funk/jazz albums, and sounds like he could still be out there playing if he wanted. I could imagine seeing Tom on something like Marcus Miller's smooth jazz cruises, or the Winery circuit. People still appreciate him.

He needs to hook up with Chaka Khan to go down memory lane with "Funkin For Jamaica". It would be a reality dream to us fans him & Chaka's. RIP TONI SMITH (🙏🏾) 🤔😄🎺🎤🎶🎼🎵🎙💞👍🏾

@@Filmation77 :NO. Stop talking nosense. The singer (recently deceased) was Tonni Smith.
@jordashi Жыл бұрын
@@Filmation77 I don't know who told you it was Chaka but it surely was not, it was the legendary Tonni Smith. Fun fact though when Chaka heard this song in the club she thought she may had recorded it and forgot.
