"High-end loot sometimes has a lower stat number..." If it's anything like the Division 1, that's because there's more to the loot than a damage or armor stat. Higher tiered weapons and gear will give a number of other bonuses, like increased crit damage, or faster reloads, increased damage if the target is close or far, etc. Blue weapons had one bonus, purple had two, gold had three, and "exotic" had a unique bonus and 2 normal ones. Weapons were also able to be upgraded to pump those stat numbers up, so the point of looting was to find gear that has the combination of bonuses you want, and then you can upgrade the base stats over time until it's the optimum build.

It really depends on the enemy and your weapon. Good damage against standard enemies melt them like butter with well placed headshots. Enemies that don't are either a higher level than you or are an enemy with armor. Break the armor, melt their health away.

Been playing this a lot lately with some friends. I have to say, regarding the weapons, it's quite deep. I play co-op with friends and we all have different preference but we're all effective. As long as we create a good overall loadout for the current power level. I personally favor a rifle/shotgun or rifle/smg based play.

I honestly really like the combat in this game. I think the reason the special/tougher enemies are more bullet spongey is to encourage/reward players for finding and targeting their weak spots. Heavy machine gun enemies seem almost impossible to kill until you find out you can shoot their ammo belt to force them to reload, for example. Grenadier enemies have a bag of grenades that you can shoot.

One thing from Division 1 that I wish was brought back in some fashion is cosmetic jackets or some type of outer layer over your normal clothes. Am relatively early into the game, but I had almost the exact opposite impression so far. Most missions I played felt like they were made for solo runs with relatively tight corridors and enemies coming usually from 1-2 positions you can easily cover, especially if you have a drone and turret with you. I played some missions with others and there was almost no challenge whatsoever. Again, I am relatively at the start (around level 11-12 taking everything pretty slowly), but being main missions, side missions, random events or check points, I haven't found a single thing that made me think "you know, this is too hard to take on solo".

Excellent review sir. This game and metro Exodus are the only games we have gotten in a good while that are actually complete and not a buggy unfinished mess. I love both games and am really really enjoying this game.

This game looks so damn repetetive, in a 15 minute video all I see is "shoot at baddies with assault rufle" with zero variety easy pass for me, don't get how people can praise Ubi for these kinds if games

I'm level 10 and really liking it, but I enjoyed the first game as well. I may actually like the first more still just cause it's really similar to this but it was fresh back then. Love the content in this one though.

i spent my entire weekend playing this game. the only issues i've had with the game is that the cover system sometimes can be finnicky and lag spikes i can count on one hand over the course of 22 hours of playtime. if you want a looter shooter that doesn't put an emphasis on the story, but rather focuses on doing activities for loot, then The Division 2 should really be on your watchlist. the sound design, phenomenal. the gunplay, amazing. the AI, let's just say that if you expect to be hit 50 times over the span of 3 seconds, hunker down and live to kill them all, then you'd better rethink your strategy. trust me, i used weapons with a lot of downtime in between shooting for the most of my playtime and recently switched over to using stuff that does less damage, but has a higher uptime. LMG's and bolt action rifles are fun to use, but running out of ammo for either one means you're stuck with your pistol against 3 assaults, 2 grenadiers, a sniper and a tank, with a patrol consisting of 2 assaults, a grenadier and a medic on the way. trust me, i'm talking from experience.

Maybe my standards are incredibly low (after the less than stellar games of the past), but I found that even the side missions (not events/control points, though those aren't horrible either) were pretty fun, since they all had unique combat arenas, which are then occasionally reinhabited by the repeatable Bounty bosses after you finish said side missions.

I just hope they don't split its activitys again like in part 1. Jogging from floor to floor in a subway station really wasn't the most immersive implementation possible. I'd wait til the first major update.

Gotta give props to the dev team for actually listening to community feedback from the first game and improving upon it in this day and age where it's easy to just half ass the initial release and make players wait for "future content". This isn't a game for everyone and I'm not gonna fault anyone for hating it, but as someone who played the first one at the end of its life cycle and coming into this, it's a definite improvement. I'm not gonna lick Ubisofts balls though because they still have some slimey business practices I don't like, but they deserve some recognition for sticking with their games post launch. I'm only a few hours in and I'm having a good time at the moment. Great review btw GGG

Played it solo all the way to 30. Main thing you need to do to succeed is watch and cover your flank. Only enemies that gave me trouble were the sledgehammer dudes that pushed me out of cover. But if you can clear the little guys first having those big bastards alone is cake.

I still have this deam of Massive continues with either the world in conflict or ground control-series. But since they are owned by ubisoft, and rts usually only releases on pc, and thats todays massive is a different massive than days of old that dream will never come true :(
