I live in new Plymouth lol and by up the mountain they mean the puakai track which goes up to the rangers, the small mountain range, and it has a small lake that is very reflective and the mountain is reflected in it. I've gone up on it like 10-15 times it's stunning and amazing, it would be so cool to do what u guys do, travel the world and stuff, and PioPio/the fat pigeon is literally ICONIC lol

I grew up in Taranaki moved to the South Island in 2011.Taranaki is the most beautiful place. I climbed to the top of Taranaki Maunga, Pouakai Hut & Tarn, and tramped around many tracks on and around Te Maunga. I'm glad you are showing the beauty of Taranaki. I grew up in Tikorangi went to Waitara Schools then moved to New Plymouth when I left school.

Excellent video. Fantastic scenery. Never been to that part of NZ. Also, thanks for posting the link to your Santa Ana trip. I enjoyed watching that video too. I climbed the volcano last summer. Funny to see the less-grown-up versions of the kids. Not sure Chloe knew how to say "I didn't sign up for this" back then😃. Excellent reference to my adopted national dish nasi goreng too. Not sure I've ever craved it when coming down a mountain though😅...

Mt Egmont/Taranaki is an active volcano that's overdue for a major eruption. When it blows a large part of Taranaki will be destroyed. The blast zone will be in the order of 25km, it could last for weeks months or years though most expect it to last for a few months of ash fallout. The last time it blew ash made it all the way to Auckland. It will have a significant impact on the dairy industry.
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders2 жыл бұрын
I know we saw this when we visited the museum. It's going to be devastating when it erupts. 😢

Yup, it's called PD or periodic detention, naughty people for what ever reason are sent by the courts to do hard labour on a Saturday as part of their punishment, for them it's good, a chance to avoid jail time, anyway building and clearing paths and maintaining tracks thru the bush was part of their work, so you can kinder thank them for much of the work done to building and carving out these paths all over nz, true story....

I feel your pain walking up and down that mountain ! 😄 In 2019 I did a similar climb in Wellington as I was a holiday to attend a family wedding so during our stay with a family member who lives I Ngio a hilly suburb in Wellington you may have heard of..? So basically my brother and I looked out the window of their home and said let's climb up that mountain ( Mt KauKau )! you may have heard of too ? So next morning we did .. little did we know we went up the long way ! apparently there was a shorter route to the top ! So it took about 2hrs there and back and we both aren't young like we used be I felt like I was 21 going up and 81 when we got back down ! The ache and pain afterwards ! I wish I had known about the ankle down first as your coming back down wouldn't have been so bad maybe haha anyway it was a great experience it's gives you a different view and perspective of Wellington you may want to try next time as most people go up Mt Vic. Anyway another great video take care 👍
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders2 жыл бұрын
I never heard of Ngio suburb yet. I think we felt our legs for 3 days after that walk. I could hardly go up and down the stairs in the home we were staying in. 😅 Sounds like you had a similar experience and it probably made it hard to dance at the wedding. 😂😂

not a bad idea to iced your knees after a long hike, should help tremendously relieving the swelling, after a day or two you should apply heat to help it heal faster, because 3.5-4 hours of up and down hiking can be very damaging for your joints, especially the knees, enjoy your videos 😊
