@@mr.personal-ity You bluff the person, not the hand. You can't take the cards out of the context and apply them to different poker players. That's not how bluffing works. Dwan clearly saw a line on Sammy in this hand and made a play. And he was right.

Dwan raises, Sammy calls. Flop comes down, Sammy checks, Dwan bets 10K, Sammy raises to 27K. Dwan calls. Scary call. What could Dwan have there that he is calling with? If he had an Ace surely he would reraise. That leaves two hands, a set, or a flopped flush that Durr is going to slowplay or a bluff. Sammy's plan? Check call from here on out. Durr knew it. Thats why he bet so huge on the river turning Sammy's check call plan into garbage and put him to a decision. Only a fish would call.

It was the right fold by Sammy. Tom raised aggressively when the flop came out. which could mean he had flush. Sammy didn't think he had flush that's why he kept baiting Tom to bet, while hoping even if Tom had flush he could still hit full house. But the fact the double 3 came out and that all in just crushed his mind

Yeah dude, but Sammy doesn't see the hole cards. Tom is repping either JJ or a flopped flush. When those 3s came up on the turn and river it is so hard to say your opponent can't beat you. You are losing to an easy flush, a set of jacks or 6s based on the post flop action, and the 3s at the end turn that set into a full house which justifies the all in. Sammy played this correctly based on the information he had.

He might stay alive by folding, but his soul is crushed. You can't survive in a tournament in the state he was in after that fold. You just have to big dick it. That said, if Dwan believed that Sammy had the guts to call, he wouldn't have gone all-in to begin with.

While it's a tough call, it's definitley makeable call. He can't have JJ, AA or 66, because he'd re-raise to protect himself from a flush after being check raised. Having a 3 in his hand is unlikely considering the raise he made pre-flop. The only hand it would make sense to lose to is a small flush (possible 72h), even then it seems crazy to go all in given the board paired at the end. Durr would almost never get away with this play in a low stakes game.

He wouldn't have done this if the board didnt pair on the end I don't think. He raised preflop then waited a long time to make his descision on the turn so Sammy had to give him some credit for a set. Maybe sammy's reraise on the flop was to get Tom out of the hand if he had one heart. Anyone agree? It's possible...

The way he called flop raise instead of 3-betting, followed by leading out turn with potsized bet, You'd put him on a middle pair and/or flush draw, or a made flush. The illogical 280% river bet comes, all reason and certainty goes out the window, and the fear makes you convince yourself to wait for a better spot.
@lwc888
@lwc888 12 жыл бұрын
A river overbet like that in that situation means either at least a FH or a bluff. Now this guy's truly thinking smart, he would know that Dwan knows he does not have a flush (or he would have check raised big on the turn). So, this means Dwan knows that his hand is weak enough to get bluffed off with a big bet and he wants to check/call the river. Could Dwan have a set on the flop? Yes, but likely? No, because he would prolly have reraised with 3 hearts on the flop to protect his hand.

I don't know why he folded. Supposing Dwan had the best hand and wanted to squeeze as much money from the guy would he not have simply played as though he were weak, going all in would be absurd as the guy would not even call. And also I heard these two made a deal where if they won with a 7.2. hand they would win an extra 10,000, so it was a special of a sort. This sammy guy fucked up big.

TheLandOfTears s Also he didn't really play the hand in a way that gave a tonne of information. He didn't really imply it was strong, or weak. It's Tom Dwan, most players have no idea how his brain works.
@JohnSmith-cy8hq
@JohnSmith-cy8hq 8 жыл бұрын
+TheLandOfTears s Huge overbet on the river means either a bluff or a monster. It's hard to think anyone would reraise preflop, get agressive post flop and call check raises on that board if they had anything less than a set, likely a flush. For almost everyone it just wouldn't be worth the risk and they would throw it away and wait for the next opportunity. Tom Dwan is just sick and not like everyone.
@ChessJew
@ChessJew 5 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-cy8hq Someone like Dwan merges his values for just these moments - he's capable of doing this with non-monsters as well, since he turns a lot of his medium values into bluffs. I think Sammy's real mistakes were the size of his flop check raise, and shutting down immediately afterwards. Check raise on the flop wasn't bad, but the sizing meant it gained no information - gave Dwan over 4-1, which means a huge range of hands can call. Checking on the turn and river kept him in the dark and waved a red flag for Dwan - if Sammy bets 2/3rds pot on turn, he's at the very least getting some draws to fold and maybe ending the hand there.

I dont think sammy can really fold this river. it all depends on his turn strategy but tom literally has to have KhQh, AA or JJ. Very narrow range, against a super agro player plus we block AA and 66.
