Tom, the medal was a German WWII "Fire Brigade Service Cross, 2nd Class", just saying.

I know I have been guilty of gushing over Tom and the channel's remarkable sense for history, straight shooting honesty, and just entertainment value but I have to say that if I don't invest in something he has for sale soon I am a fool. This man actually cares and that is becoming hard to find these days. Legacy Collectables is a piece of authentic work. Thanks Tom.

I'd rather just buy directly from Tom than screw around with an auction site. Give me the bottom line on the gun/rig I want, without the BS, extra fees, & miscellaneous crap. I'll pay it because I trust him to be straight with me...he has been in the past. Great video & quite educational for those that are "auction minded." Keep 'em coming!!!

YES the Walther PPK is pictured in a color illustration (not a photo) in the 1936 edition of the Nazi Party Handbook (OrganisationsbuchderNSDAP). It is referred to in the caption as "The Honor Weapon" and so apparently was highly regarded. Best-looking versions I've seen are the nickel or gold-plated models. Note that the eagle's head on the grip is looking to the LEFT, which indicates that this was a Nazi Party weapon------left signifying the political left or revolution. State/military eagles, on the other hand, usually had the eagle looking to the right, signifying the status quo or established order of things.

The best auctions, gun or otherwise, were the auctions held at the Legion or firehall, were you had to sit on the metal folding chairs, the guns or antiques were on full display, you saw who you were bidding against, your friends were there to offer their free advice and the old Grandma was in the back of the hall selling hot dogs, hamburgers and her home made soup and cake and coffee. It was an all day affair. Unfortunately the internet on-line bidding hurt these old time auctions and the pandemic was the final blow.😢

The thing is, at those a couple old dudes with money to burn would get in a pissing match for something kind ho hum or actually not too good. IMHO IN PERSON is the way to go if you want something

Do they guarantee their items? Sounds like the same situation when someone doesn't do their research, buys a used car, and it breaks down within a few months. Tough luck; life ain't always fair.

I think that's absolutely wrong in many ways. They're selling a product. They ARE the retailer, whether it's on consignment or not is a contract between the owner and the retailer. If you bought a knock-off Rolex that was advertised as a real Rolex from a jewelry store, there's no question you'd be entitled to a refund or have legal recourse to sue them for one. I don't see how this is different, and if they're doing appraisals for a starting bid, I'd think you have an even BETTER case. If you bought a car with with a good title and the serial numbers were swapped for a newer model, but yours was an R-title, that car auction would be responsible. I'd talk to an attorney if I were you.

You showed great restraint there Tom. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve got carried away in an auction for something I’ve been looking forward to getting and bid too much on the day. It hurts when you get that invoice with the 30% auction fees added !

This is one of my favorite vids from Legacy Coll. I have a friend that is very much into that pi$$ing match thing., I generally look at the item on the auction and set my limit and do the proxy bid at that and do not look until the auction is definitely over. That method has been good to me, and once in a while, just for kicks, I will bid with passion on something I most certainly could not continue living without possessing that firearm.

I used to fire blue and straw color hardened parts for John Martz the Luger carbine maker who lived in Lincoln, CA. I could do this one; I match by temperature color. It is too nice a pistol not to bid up if you have the funds.

I have recently been doing some of these on line auctions. I fist look and see what the premium is. I try to bid on ones that have a 15 percent premium. Remember you will be paying your premium and your state tax and that will add up in a hurry I live in Texas so mine is 81/4 percent it's higher than most cause no state income tax.. Then there will be shipping as well as insurance. If it an estate sell go like you said go thru it first know when you lot coming up and ignore the ones you didn't research first. I recently on Gun Broker bought a Finnish carbine 1927rv and because I know there are only 300 in the states I knew it was going to cost me it did but it could have been worst I set it at 4200 and got it for 3700. It will definitely be the highlight of my Finnish collection. Thank you for your advice and yes do not get in a pissing contest I have seen 1500 dollar guns go for 4500 and not just occasionally. You got to keep your emotions out of it or it will cost you. Love your channel you are helping people to collect wisely.

I had a long comment all typed in, but all I'm going to say is this bubble is going to pop. Probably sooner than later. I think there will be a lot of buyers remorse, people are going to lose big if they try to get rid if their mistake, or have to hang on to it for decades to come when the dollar catches up or is hyper inflated again. I guess I did write a long comment after all.

It's truly a sad thing when folks use firearms as a similar interest to folks who put value in "Art" or paintings to hang on their wall or hide in the safe. Whats more interesting about this entire industry is the auctions and what they charge for their premium. I wouldn't be too unhappy if they were paid by the count vs. the price bid. What they actually do isn't driving up the price for the seller enough to make it worth that kind of premium, just my view. Plus, the premium does nothing for anyone, no help at all if there is misrepresentation of the item they sold. I get sick when I see old cars and other antiques on the auction block...so impersonal and greedy.

It's never OK to swap numbered or unnumbered parts to "improve" a gun. That ruins the authenticity, is dishonest and is historical vandalism. Especially when its adding bakelite grips to make a Luger a "black widow", if you know what I mean.
