That was from 53 yrs ago, and if you hear him now, he still sounds exactly the same. He sings on some episodes of the voice with Jennifer Hudson. You can see some of the other judges videoing it on their own phones. You can also see ( by her reaction ) that Jennifer Hudson is honored to be singing a duet with him.

Every time I hear this song I think of my mom and get misty-eyed. She absolutely adored him. On one of our trips to Vegas - I took her to see his show. 90 minutes of a highly energetic, non-stop performance. She was mesmerized; best time ever for her (and me). She talked about it for years afterward. My mom passed away in June 2020 in the midst of COVID. Since she was in a rehab/convalescence home after a very bad fall and everybody was on lock-down....we didn't get to interact physically in the last year of her life - only virtually via very limited Skype sessions. About 2 weeks before her passing, in one of those sessions she asked if I still remembered the time we went to Vegas and saw Tom Jones. "Of course I do mom," I said. And she promptly busted out in this song. For real! My mom was 94 yrs old. RIP mom ❤

Tom is the real deal... He was friends with Elvis and performed opposite times in Las Vegas. They would visit each others shows and surprise each other. I'm 57, my Mom will be 83 next month. She's always loved Tom Jones. I first heard this song 3 or 4 years ago. It blew me away! Back in the day (like, when I was 16, and when this video was recorded!) it was really easy to dismiss Jones as a lounge act. It took me years to fully appreciate his voice.....songs such as this one show us that in addition to his excellent work on "ordinary" songs, he was capable of deeply interpretive performances that show just how good he was.

Sir Tom now is a judge/coach on The Voice UK. Last year the son of the man that wrote this song for Tom, Lonnie Donegan, Peter came on the show to give it a try. Well long story short, they ended up singing this song as a duet. Lonnie had past away awhile ago but the mother was there. Anyway as I cry remembering the episode, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. You really should watch that video. As Sir Tom turned 80 this year there probably won't be many more stirring performances like this was. Tom had an album that displaced the Beatles for number one album in 67 I think. He was a guilty pleasure of 16 year old burgeoning hippies like myself. His voice was just mesmerizing. In fact the only voice that I can compare it to belongs to a 14 year old young lady from Kazakhstan named Daneliya Tuleshova. They aren't the same, there voices both are captivating and have the unique quality of imparting emotion on a whole different level that maybe any other singers. My opinion give them both a listen and see if you feel the same way. But Tom this song especially could make a rock cry. Remember if you do watch that video I described above. that Tom was at least 79!!! Another singer from that era that has had a mini career revival is Tony Bennett. He has had some big success singing with people like Lady Gaga and the late Amy Winehouse and the late great Aretha Franklin. He has two albums of duets with the current and former greats and he was in his 80's doing this. Thanks for watching this. I love it when I see some of today's kids checking out the past greats.

Tom Jones just brilliant, but what was so refreshing!!!! its the first reaction where someone as just listened all the way through without stopping 3,4,5 or even 6 times to make comments!! never make a decision about anything or anyone until you have heard the whole truthful story. I was 13 in '67 and my mother was a true fan. Never missed a show and I actually enjoyed some of his music as I am an old hippie, biker, & rocker. This song I really liked but had no idea what love was and kinda poked fun at my mom. RIP mother, you had great taste and I love this song now that I can feel the pain in this song. Just a man, a microphone, and a voice. No one today could come close with that much raw talent and emotion without their technology help! Peace

This man has a beautiful voice! I remember my mother would always watch the Tom Jones Show on Channel 9 CKLW back in the day. Still love his voice!!
