That’s just about note for note from the ESL solo. The drum tuning is spot on. Well done!

Brings back some of my fave memories from SMHS. There were very few good memories. But almost all were in Mr Hodge's class.

What's impressive is that these guys had this song (and many other songs by Rush, VH, Journey, Motley Crue...etc...etc) nailed, complete with drum solo, years earlier than this recording. Maybe even more impressive is the videographer's ability to hold up the camera that amount of time... cameras back then were pretty big and heavy. LoL! Our class was really lucky (or spoiled) to have this band playing at pep rallies and other school and local events, they set the bar high for other live musical acts to try and live up to. Thanks for keeping this posted Tom, it definitely puts and instant smile on my face seeing this and I hope you're doing well!

Thank you for the very kind words!! 🙏🏼🥁🙏🏼 Man...those were the days... I think about all the times Bobby, Matt, Daniel, and I got together to practice all this stuff...the pep rallies, the bonfire (with Carleton Langley singing), the parties...man...good times!!! I'm so glad you remember these days as fondly as I do! -Tom

Sounds like you did that one part just after the long run / fill and right before the classic cowbell part more like All The Worlds A Stage solo than ESL . I like it better . Always have . A little thing , but I listened to the ATWAS solo way more than the ESL one when I was young . How cool that you have this on tape . I hope you still have that kit . A good old Ludwig set . You tuned them like Neil too ! Thanks so much for posting man .

p.s. What make & model / year is that kit ?

MV 2112 thanks!! It took about as much time to acquire that kit piece by piece as it did to learn the solo! (I don’t have it any more though...) Thanks again! 🙏🏻👊🏻

MV 2112 it was a “mutt” kit comprised of several different brands-all covered in that bright orange contact paper. (Ugh!) 😆

@@KnightymeStudiosInc , Thank YOU for responding . I don't know how you flew under my radar for so long - especially in this day and age of KZbin etc . Your playing is inspiring in every way . Excellent in your craft . I think too seeing and now knowing a bit more of the humble beginnings ( very relatable ) , also sparked a rekindling of enthusiasm that we so easily possess in our youth , but that can just as easily erode or wane with time and age . My practice yesterday was better in no small part to you . I also played along with you tracking '' Damaged '' .

MV 2112 wow-nice! Thank you! I *do* believe that one of the things that helps keeps us young is maintaining an interest in new things. I’m glad if any of my posts contributed to any inspiration you feel! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

My brother is Rick Carswell. He played trumped in SMHS jazz band maybe one year with you. He was class of 88. You may also know my younger brother who played drums (class of 92). I think you would have graduated before he was in 8th grade (to march), but I think you were coming back after high school to help the drummers. His name is Matt / Matthew Carswell.
