This is one of Tom's angry songs. He's very patient and likes to just write his songs about social issues, sobriety, mental health, and life, in general, but when he stores up enough hate, he'll drop something like this where he'll fire at the industry, and it'll still be inspirational. I guess some people hate him so much that they don't listen enough to be inspired. Also, I've found he gets the most hate when he drops "political" songs, I always see "Canadian" and "grifter" in his comments of those songs. It used to be -ist/phobic. He really is exposing the platform and the haters' personal biases.
