Fantastic demo Pete. That intro threw me back to my Class of '94 roots! I am a HUGE fan of Morello, and have been unfortunately stricken over the years with not only Gear Acquisition Syndrome searching for MY tone, but also the dreaded Optional Paralysis often experienced when transitioning to digital amp modeling and it's limitless tweakability. I think this pedal may possibly solve a bunch of my practical issues recording in an apartment, for far less cost than what I was initially considering, and the added FX loop gives the freedom of integrating any core signal I discover into a variety of useful applications. Sometimes the old sayings: "Keep it simple stupid" and "Less is more" ring so loud and true. Especially to a notoriously habitual overthinker like myself. Ha! Merry Christmas! Hope you stay safe and well!
@devinsinderwitcz91342 жыл бұрын
Same here, I've been doing it with a Boss Katana MKII 100, a Boss TR-2, Boss DD3-T and a Digitech Whammy IV. Took a little tweaking on the amp to figure out the tone but I got it. Now I can simply do it with one pedal soon :). I slowly built each sound with lots of gain and it worked!

@markusschmid63153 жыл бұрын
Awesome Pete! I really like the sound, and your playing is stunning as usual. To me, you are a legend, as well as Tom is. He is a unique player, and creative with sounds and technique, no one sounds like him, not even if we use his exact gear, of course. But I find it nice that he shares his "secrets", and now he shares the tone of his amp in pedalform, so everyone can get it, and it's probably not that expensive since it's mxr. So those who call him a hypocrite are just lame. I consider getting it.

Funny, a pedal that emulates the JCM800 split channel. Remember I was mentioning that highly misunderstood amp? It doesn't really sound like the amp to me but it's cool. His trick is the speakers in the Peavey cab which are not Celestions. I use an '89 2210 with a mix of Greenbacks and G12H 55's. I'd like to convert back to the '87/'88 voicing which has more mids. The '89 has the most gain gain but more scoopy and very bright.

Hey Pete, I just had to come back for another listen...I think I was wrong about comparing it to SG, it's totally a PT riff! I love your original way of writing and playing. This is totally you. What it shares with Soundgarden is the surprising intervals. But that is what makes my favorite riffs anyway. Great melody within the riff. Great whammy bar part into that solo. I hope this one makes it onto your album. So well done.

@cerclesvicieux5 ай бұрын
Simarly, MXRs SuperBadass Distrion does the same thing, except withoiut the effects loop. And both incorperate the same idea I used for years because I never had any pedals. I simply cranked up the gain and dialed in the volumn, or vice-versa. It's a simple idea that I think many players overlook in light of having some incredible pedal board to break up the signal. Ironic how they have pedals to do the same thing we used to do when we didn't have pedals. Kind of like tuners, right? Which is why he have an entire geration of gutar players who can't tun a guitar by ear.

Rage has always been one of those “guilty pleasure” bands for me. I don’t know that their views and mine are in 100% total harmony with one another, but their music freakin rocks. And one thing has nothing to do with another, and I like to give credit where it is due, so....I do think that Morello is a good guitar player, certainly very different and creative. I am also a big MXR guy and I do think that this pedal sounds good, at least I think it does in this demo so I may give it a whirl. But I put Pete in that special category of players who has that gift when we say “So and so can make pretty much anything sound good”
