Kim Basinger (the actress playing the corpse of Tom’s affections in this video) said that she had a lot of fun on this shoot! She said that Tom was really a very shy man, which was fine by her because she was also fairly shy herself. They broke down giggling more times than either could count and she said he was incredibly sweet to work with. That made me happy.

Patrick Griffith I know how you feel, brother. When they first announced his death,I started crying like a baby. Then after finding out the news was false, and that he was still clinging on to life, that gave me a little hope that maybe he would pull through. Since I was a child I listened to Tom, My dad had all of his albums... I am crying right now, he is a part of my childhood. His sound, his lyrics, the songs were spectacular. He really was the last DJ. We'll never see anyone like him anymore. I listen to a lot of music. He is unique, and I say this only to few musicians, such as Joe Jackson or Frank Zappa. He was a legend of Rock. He surely has written the history of music. We all miss you Tom. We'll met in the great wide open, someday, maybe...

Finished reading Tom Petty's biography By Warren Zane and was shocked to learn he was an undertaker prior to making his way out to LA. He mentioned that he would move the bodies and place them in odd positions to creep out his co-workers, after reading this it makes sense what inspired this video.

Apparently, _Mary Jane's Last Dance_ got him an award from MTV for Best Male Video in 1994. I was in awe to the air of mystery of the metaphor that the song itself had, but the video deepened the possibility to what the truth of it really was. #TomPetty #TomPettyforever

@@jammzy2959 Yeah, some people do think that it's about drugs like marijuana. Other folks likely say it was about the end of his first marriage because he was getting a divorce at the time... Personally, I think it could have been about both, to be honest. BTW, I was surprised to learn his day job was being a grave-digger before he made it big as a rock star. That may have helped inspire the video's theme. #TomPetty
