Tom Petty’s music touched a wide range of people. All from different walks of life. For example- His music touched me and I am a black, gay, bald, music lover living in Michigan. I miss Tom so much. An awesome musician . He just had that very special quality about him. You really couldn’t help but to love him. He will always be one of my all-time favorites. Rest in eternal peace, Tom. This man right here was my introduction into adulthood. Moving out from Eastern Canada to Western Canada by myself at 19. Once my dad left me in the small little town, I eventually developed a huge admiration for Tom. Remembering hearing his music in my dads truck or one of his CDs on the shelf. Tom Petty became the soundtrack of that summer in 2012. I was living in one of the most beautiful towns in the rocky mountains. Tom Petty really taught me a lot over the years. Now whenever I hear one of his songs, it brings me back to that summer and all fun I had. Fuck I wish I was 19 again lol.

I have always adored Tom Petty. Normally, I don't go in for the "good ol southern boy" look, but this guy changed my opinion. Take all his features, together and can we say "sexy?" Also a damn good songwriter and he knows to write songs that are within his limited vocal range. Overall, I give this still-going-strong legend an A++.

I'm 17 years old, Petty is all my parents played growing up. I've been to three concerts in the last 5 years, all of them are incredible. We need more bands like this from the live generations. no editing, no shitty effects. just a group that can play the hell out of their instruments and make an incredible sound.

Same here along with neil young, and crosby stills nash and sometimes young, todd rundgren, doors, steely dan, doobie brothers, chicago, zz top. Emerson lake and palmer, alan parsons project, pink floyd, Allman brothers, wishbone ash, joe bonnamassa, and many others....great music doesnt burn out or fade away and yes 8m aware that's neil young not tom petty, but felt fitting. Cheers to music eternal!

I love the deeper meaning of songs like this, with lines like "my old man was born to rock but he still trying to beat the clock, think of me what you will I've got a lot of space to fill" to me feels like "my old man was born to rock, but he's still trying to beat the clock" is that his father is great as any rocker, though he works "on the clock" in an ordinary day job, and "think of me what you will, I've got a lot of space to fill" is him saying that he thinks of himself as still needing a lot to do to be as great as his father. Love it. Tom Petty will always be remembered as one of the greats, and it was a privilege growing up in the nineties, to see videos like this, Don't Come Around Here No More, and Free Fallin' on MTV and VH1 with my older bro. ✌🏼☮️❤️
