Tom Petty is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter renowned for his hits “You Don't Know How It Feels,” “It’s Good To Be King,” “You Got Lucky,” “I Should Have Known It,” “Swingin,” “Something Good Coming,” and “Saving Grace.” He worked with artists like Stevie Nicks, Prince, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison - amassing over 80 million record sales and 40-year career of sold-out shows.
Lyrics:
Lyrics:
Let me run with you tonight
I’ll take you on a moonlight ride
There’s someone I used to see
But she don’t give a damn for me
So let me get to the point, let’s roll another joint
And turn the radio loud, I’m too alone to be proud
You don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels to be me
People come, people go
Some grow young, some grow cold
I woke up in between
A memory and a dream
So let’s get to the point, let’s roll another joint
Let’s head on down the road
To somewhere I gotta go
You don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels to be me
My old man was born to rock
He’s still tryin’ to beat the clock
Think of me what you will
I’ve got a little space to fill
So let’s get to the point, let’s roll another joint
Let’s head on down the road
To somewhere I gotta go
And you don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels to be me
You don’t know how it feels
No you don’t know how it feels
You don’t know how it feels to be me

When I was 7, my older brother happened to spot a CD laying on the side of the highway. He made my mom stop the car and ran down back the highway and grabbed it (he was in the 7th grade). One of us asked why he had to get it. He said, "You never say no to music". He put it in the CD player and it worked perfectly. Wildflowers started and it was my first time hearing Tom Petty.

It happened the same to me, with Petty’s learning to fly. It was 3 days ago. I’m 48 and into heavy metal, but Petty got me thinking i need to work harder on my serenity. My woman will never come back, the sooner i get the fact the better!

I met Mr. Petty at the age of 12 with my Dad at a meet and greet before a show! He asked me what I had in my hand which was a journal he signed it Keep Dreaming- Tom Petty! I still have that first journal- That dream continues as I prepare to publish my first complete work of motivational poetry! Heartfelt thanks to Tom for making motivational music that kept me motivated to write! From One Dreamer To The Next Rest In Peace TP!

listening to this for the 1st time... the song is alright, nothing wrong with it in particular, but the sound production on it is "too clean"... it doesn't fit with his overall vibe as an artist... it sounds a bit harsh on the speakers, it's not "clean" in a warm way

Born in '87, I always used to resent as a child that my mom would play nothing but her favorite music every night throughout the house. Now that I'm an adult, I genuinely couldn't be more grateful that embedded deep within my consciousness is a catalog of music that includes the likes of Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Tracy Chapman and so many other great artists of that time. Some of these songs I haven't heard in decades, but within seconds of hitting play flood back into my memory as though I had just listened to them yesterday. Every note, every chord and every word. I truly do consider myself fortunate to have such a strong connection to this music, and in some sense feel very sad for the generations ahead who (unless they're very fortunate) will never know music as poetry. While every generation has their strengths and weaknesses, I'd be lying if I said that I have much hope for the music industry going forward. Artists are too aware of their own audience now. They're too focused on making music with mass appeal, absent of all modesty and emotional connection. I know this is said so often that it's become hacky, but they truly don't make them like this anymore! RIP Tom Petty

Here's the lyrics : Let me run with you tonight I'll take you on a moonlight ride There's someone I used to see But she don't give a damn for me But let me get to the point, let's roll another joint And turn the radio loud, I'm too alone to be proud You don't know how it feels You don't know how it feels to be me People come, people go Some grow young, some grow cold I woke up in between A memory and a dream So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint Let's head on down the road There's somewhere I gotta go And you don't know how it feels You don't know how it feels to be me My old man was born to rock He's still tryin' to beat the clock Think of me what you will I've got a little space to fill So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint And let's head on down the road There's somewhere I got to go And you don't know how it feels No, you don't know how it feels to be me If you find this useful, make sure to like this comment. I'd really appreciate it!

I had all these things to say about Tom and how important his music was and is to so many of us but instead I just miss him. He was one of those amazing artists that was such an integral part of Americana and our collective conscience that you just kinda took for granted that fact he'd always be here. The world is definitely a little less bright without him in it.

@@asxpyeptho3055 Well, for example: If you feel alone all the time in the world, because you don't feel anyone understands you, you become accustomed to feeling so alone all the time. Eventually, you take no pride in doing certain things that normally would make you feel proud in a group of people, because you're used to just being a good person not seeking glory, but just wanting to mind your own business or do good unto others, if you're into that. So true, Music Momma. Your comment moved me. He was such a part of my life, good God, for nearly 40 years. And really, he still is. My love and appreciation for him has only grown and deepened since his departure. I read Warren Zane's biography of him, I've immersed myself in his music all over again, spent a lot of time thinking about him and how so much of what he sang about seemed as if it was my own life he was singing about - all that. Losing Tom was like losing the older brother I never had; it hurt a lot and I've shed many tears over the year since, but he's still inside me; his music is still very much a part of my life. But man, I sure miss him.

That shit cuts deep and he managed to brush it off as just another part of existence... Do you remember the first time you actually woke up..? Where it took you..? I believe it's painful for us all. One day AI will explain it in painful detail and it will either remind us of who we are(if awake), or startle us awake in the most agonizing way possible...

Sad though the world has lost Tom Petty, although he will live in our hearts forever. I met him one time, a sweet heart of a man so humble, did not have the rock star attitude .R.I.P. Tom, your millions of fans, miss you, yes we do.
