Me, and my family normally go to the Halloween party for the attractions with short wait times. On August 20, 2019, all four of us were supposed to go to the Magic Kingdom for the Halloween party, but I decided to go to EPCOT to watch Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. While the rest of my family were at the Magic Kingdom for the Halloween party, I was at EPCOT watching Illuminations: Reflections of Earth for the last time.

As someone who attended MNSSHP the last week of August, I couldn't agree more. Of all the times I've attended over the years, the access to the rides was the best I've ever experienced (including Boo Bash). I could NOT believe the lines for candy. Folks wasting SO MUCH time for goodies they could buy at Target. I saw a candy line across from the Tomorrowland Raceway that was longer than any ride. Different strokes for different folks I suppose...

You mentioned that Lights, music, and atmosphere are probably not the main reasons to go to a party. These are the exact things that make me go. Short lines, candy, and meet and greets hold no appeal for me, but the feel of the events are my personal hook. The more they pull back on items like that, the less likely I would be from taking my family.

I especially liked the Haunted Mansion live actors, Pirates live actors, and Space Mountain in full darkness-very unique. The lights and fog effects were very effective, especially at Haunted Mansion.

Oh. the fog on the river, with the lights in the background, was beautiful. It was good to see Big Al. Hmm, it sounds like he liked it more as the night went by. Space Mountain did look cool. Tom, I have to agree with Florida's MK treat trails are a waste of time for just candy. However, Disney California Adventure's Oogie Boogie Bash treat trails are off the charts! With the villains in the treat trails, it is awesome. And this year, Ernesto de la Cruz topped all. And how in the world can any park top the Villains' Grove?

I didn't see many kids in line waiting for candy in your video. I saw a lot of adults that miss trick or treating and think it's OK in a place where you pay to be a kid. They can't try this at home. Without costumes, it's just plain depressing.

We rode the party version of Space Mntn....complete darkness! It was wildly fun! The character/actors on Pirates was also fantastic! All the rides that were open were actually really fun that night-

I went for my first one in August and I thought it was just ok. A few of my fave attractions were closed so that was disappointing. The parade was cute and the fireworks were ok. I wouldn't spend the money for 4 again.

Was just at Magic Kingdom 2 weeks ago, sad that they're letting Splash Mountain get into a state it's in. Many effects/animatronics are not working. Obviously I know why it's happening but it's sad to see for such a beloved attraction.

Tom, don't be so Grumpy. Just remember, Disney values you as a guest and are being extremely generous by watching our waistlines, so by cutting down on the candy and increasing prices dramatically, they are improving your guest experience. Just remember, McCarthy and Chapek really love you.

Something that I guess kinda bugged me was the bag design,not in a bad way but while I know it was a temporary thing , went to the boo bash and got a bag design of what movies will be out /are out & but it was weeks after the 50th had just happened so at the time I didn’t think anything, untill I saw this years MNSSHP bag and was kinda like that would’ve fit the boo-bash idea & it was the 50th andd since there was no merch or anything with boo bash on it , the bag would’ve been kinda that… something small and minuscule but just my 2 cents. We did this a few weeks ago and the candy lines weren’t too bad…the thing with Tiki Room is it is the first one you see if you look at the map to check where they are Gotta say it really has declined…there use to be trails with more handout spots and a bigger variety…the audio for the fireworks was horrible and some of the new songs have nothing to do with Halloween…the merch was nothing to write home about and yes there were no pins…and there use to be more treats and drinks to enjoy There are some positives like the shows parade cartoons at Philarmagic rare characters and ride overlays but you use to get so much more bang for your buck

Looks like a nightmare. In a bad way. Incredibly crowded and lines everywhere. I went a LONG time ago when they allowed fewer people in. It was easy to get on the rides, watch the shows and parades. It was awesome.

I haven't been to either event in person yet, but compared to what Universal puts on, to me this feels like an overpriced, low effort Trunk or Treat. Which isn't a bad thing on its own, but this is Disney, we know what they're capable of when it comes to holiday bashes. The live bats were a nice touch though, if unintentional.

You would have seen grumpy generally at the 13th September MNSSHP when they didn’t open pirates all night yet kept telling people it would be back up so to keep checking back and wasn’t!! No refunds or another ticket to see it as they claimed things are subject to change but coming from a very long way specifically to see the live actors I feel it was a lot show!! As has been said huge queues for generic candy less treat spots and smaller handouts. We never really bother with more than one. Unfortunately new staff in the QS who wouldn’t listen like a robot telling people stuff was sold out whilst the kitchen were showing people the items still there and ready to be sold 🙈 I love the party but that one was a shambles. Mix that with a fight nearly breaking out in Epcot guest relations as a cast member was baiting an already angry customer at the desk whilst we queued as pretty much all the big rides had been mostly shut for the day including galaxy (we were there about a different issue) MK and Epcot are building sites, the grand and poly are building sites it’s a very messy noisy place at the moment it was ok as a trip but not like previous ones people were pushing queues and arguing with others with no CMs or security challenging it. The Chapek era is upon us we are called consumers yet when we try to consume the products we pay for and can’t there is no reasonable solution offered just stated at blankly or given a legal stance. I saw a huge difference from 2019 to now it’s very sad as Disney used to in my opinion be a fair place if there were issues they would be instantly resolved with a satisfactory solution. Whereas universal were better. Basically you have to accept things will look messy not much is frequently open and no one will be interested if there is an issue then you’ll be ok That’s my rant over but they have lost a ‘consumer’ who did regular long stays as it was more hassle than it was worth especially with higher prices you expect a higher quality of customer service and product 🙈

Is it just me or when comparing this video to those that document the previous years versions, it would seem that this event has become a victim of CHEAPek's cost cutting measures since most of the Halloween style atmosphere has been skipped and the amounts of candy cut back. This is a premium event after hours event, it should feel like one and NOT just like a quick cash grab to milk loyal patrons.

The headless horseman lazily cantering by has to be one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen in a Disney park - and I visited DCA 1.0.
