Honestly I drank for almost 16 years...everyday pretty much. Mostly in secret. Smoked weed for almost 18 years. I didn't really believe in God specifically, it was more of a higher power. Karma and learning about meditation or New Age stuff. My family believes in Sikhism...its how I was raised. 35 days ago I randomly just thought maybe I should pray to God in Jesus' name and see what happens. Maybe my alcohol addiction is a demon like Tom MacDonald says in Best Rapper Ever. So I prayed. I asked God to heal me and get rid of the demons. Im a brand new person now. I haven't touched liquor or weed since I prayed. Zero temptations so far. My ankle injury from 2 years ago got miraculously healed. My dog actually makes eye contact with me. There was definitely some evil shit inside me that isn't there anymore. I own a Bible now. I just started reading it 3 days ago! Praise Jesus 🙏🙏🙏

This is true- and God allows it. Why? Cuz the cure is to step into the pain our fallenness creates, to touch the real, the genuine. Brandon's verse was a MOOD. And even though you only hear Nova in the chorus, there is symbolix meaning to that I believe. I believe she didn't verse because it was a metaphor for SUPPORTING tom.. She was "supporting" the chorus, and was his rock when he was having issues, as was brandon.. this song has me crying EVERY TIME

This song is very emotional for me, I struggle every day to stay clean, it’s been 19 plus years, also I have many family members still using and trying to find their way, and in August I lost my best friend that was like my sister to an over dose, it’s still very difficult to deal with, this song just hit me right in the gut.. Shawn and Mel ....Not that it matters but I am a 59 year old white guy from Canada and you are my favorite reactors. Well I'm the type of person who looks at a problem and finds the simplest way to eliminate it. First off there are a multitude of reasons. You are only looking in the wrong places. It can't rain all of the time. You have to have the rough times to appreciate the good ones. Life is a constant test(s). Some we pass easily, others we fail. You can't dwell on the failures . Rectify them. The reason there are tests is the journey to the answer . #HOG

I think most of us do, we just don’t care. Like Tom indicates in the song, being sober is worse in early sobriety. Often, we see the demons and didn’t have the coping skills to defeat them. It’s why most people relapse a few times before long term sobriety. We make bad choices to deal with that “sobriety sucks/is painful”, even knowing where we end up. It takes time to cultivate that faith and coping mechanisms while our brain heals, time passes, and we can see more clearly once the brain is functioning properly again. In my experience, most of us do see them as demons.

Mel your hair is beautiful, looks like u cut it off to, I just cut 25 inches off mine, tryin to get used to the short weightless feeling . God is always with us, its in His time not ours, and when He does answer our prayers, we need to have our eyes open to see it, it may not be the answer we wanted, but its His answer. I understand people are so focused on the addiction aspect. But there are other demons being fought on a daily basis that's not just addiction. For me and sooooo many others that are combat vets, it's PTSD. I was able to kick the alcohol, but I struggle with PTSD on a daily basis. This song speaks to me so much because I've taken my guns to a friends house and had him keep them for a while until I pulled myself from that dark place. We all have demons we fight everyday and it's important to know and remember that we are loved and that there's a bright day after every dark night. Love yall and God bless

Tom doesn't necessarily yet embrace Christ specifically, yet his humility and genuineness flows with grace, as it is written "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble" and "Humble yourself under the mighty Hand of God, and He will lift you up." The Kingdom of God is not entered by saying the right things and using the proper name. It is entered through humility, honesty, and faith. I didn't say all roads lead to the Father. I think it's mainly alcohol & when you get belligerent. Then sinning, getting violent, killing people. Drinking & driving getting in a wreck killing yourself or possibly others. Or committing sexual sin, fornicating, committing adultery & that type of stuff while drunk.
