I love the videos Tom has made over the years from Dave Wilson Nursery. You both are very informative and detailed, which is great for a backyard gardener. I loved the answer, to the question, "when is it a bad time to transplant a tree"? Lol. Thanks for sharing the wealth of information.

Hello Andrew, I think I was the most excited person to see Tom. He is truly and expert on plant care... And has such a great personality, too! Charles :-)

Thanks for posting this video very informative. ... I have a ? For you . So my citrus has leave miners so i was looking for the neem oil you recommended but the store did not have it , so i got the captain jacks ... for some reason i just notice its been less then a week i sprayed it and all the new growth it far worse then what it was the leaves are really bad now . Do you have any idea y this could be ?
@IVOrganic7 жыл бұрын
Hello MrHaenn, The best way for me to help is if you send me a picture of the damage to Info@IVOrganics.com When living in South Florida, and now back home in Los Angeles, the citrus leaf miners only showed up by April/ May and were gone by October/ November. Most new growth did not need to be protected from the leaf miner pest. I am surprised that you are already dealing with issue so early in the season. Captain jack is a great product, which I sometimes alternate with neem and/ or mineral oils with applications that should be repeated every 3 weeks from April to October. The protection is mostly cosmetic (according to most research, even though I think disease can be passed by these pests that are creating waste within these living leaves)... So the leaves do not all look disfigured. Neem oil should be added to your defense.... Here is a link to some Neem based products: www.homedepot.com/p/Southern-Ag-8-oz-Triple-Action-Neem-Oil-100048933/100662146 www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=82582316&KPID=23151154&cid=CAPLA:G:Shopping__-Animal/Pest_Control-__New&pla=pla_23151154&k_clickid=201b7b9c-a456-4aba-a43b-66bc767c9a52 I hope this helps! :-) Charles

What if you have a Mature Large Avo tree that is in poor drainage soil... tree was large and mature in 2010 when we purchased our home in So CA .. Long Beach area. Soil is hard and grass grows around the tree. Now it has not been trimmed in maybe 4 years and is about 25 feet in height. Tree is large with new blossoms and new growth however much leaf dropping, browning leaf tips, and some yellowing leafs along with some dying branches in the understory. Should have paid attention earlier. Does this sound like a drainage problem? Root rot? ... What to do?? Thanks!

Can the IV Organic be foliar sprayed on fruit trees after they have set fruit???
@IVOrganic7 жыл бұрын
Hello Greg Heal, Absolutely! Fruit facing south are especially susceptible to sunburn... Last year many of my unprotected Eureka lemons got affected by burn. However, if you are going to eat the skins, of for example apples, tomatoes and cucumber, I would recommend washing the fruit with soap using the "rough" side of a dish sponge. No issue with thorough cleaning of the skins of citrus, avocados, pomegranates, etc... where you are not eating the skins. Let me know if you have any other questions. Charles :-)

Sad the audio is horrible. The only part you could hear was the awkward 5 minute sales pitch at the start. Was looking forward to hearing what Tom Spellman had to share.

Hello Sig220Euro, I am meeting with Tom this upcoming weekend... I expect that there will be someone to help with recording... and I have since learned from the editors that there is a way to double / triple the sound on the editing side... Each publication is getting better... and I will be sure that we have better audio at the next meeting with Tom. Stay tuned! Charles :-)

How effective is your product against Japanese Beetles that attack my apple trees and grape plants?
@IVOrganic7 жыл бұрын
Hello Patrick, IV Organic 3-in-1 Plant Guard, when applied as a brush-on will seal any existing damage to the plants, while creating a barrier that tricks the beetle into thinking that the coated plant is garlic, cedarwood, cinnamon, clove, rosemary, peppermint and castor... all organic oils that are added to the product and naturally repel almost all garden pests. Let me know if you have any other questions. Charles :-)

With all of those oils in your product, there has to be some danger of burning your plants once the sun hits the plants. I have used neem oil before and have cooked my plants even when I sprayed in the evening time and allowed it to dry overnight. What are the precautions when using your product and burning plant due to the oils in your product.
@IVOrganic7 жыл бұрын
Hello Patrick, You are the FIRST person to EVER raise that question! Good thinking!!! :-) Yes, the oils do add a risk of intensifying the sun's rays, however, the product reflects much more than the risk of heat by the oils in the product. The oils are coated into the solution creating layers protecting from the inside, middle and exterior surfaces offering time release protection as the layers wear off. Furthermore, I too burned one of my citrus trees last year with neem oil applied the night before (which is the best time of day to avoid burn), but the following day in the 90's cooked the leaves and fruit on the south-side of the tree. The remedy is to continue using the neem, the night before, followed by an application of IV Organic foliar spray in the morning to function as a sunblock to the added oils on the plant. Again, great question!!! Let me know if you have any other questions! Charles :-)

Just to make sure I understand you correctly about your product fighting off Japanese Beetles. I am really in search of something that will keep those destroyers of plants off of mine. They decimated my apple and grape plants. They also love my blackberry and strawberry plants. Will your product deter them?
@IVOrganic7 жыл бұрын
Hello Patrick, Yes. If they are that aggressive on your property, I recommend that you apply the product as a brush-on instead of the thinner spray-on option that is available with our product. Please e-mail me at Info@IVOrganics.com as I have another suggestion that I do not want to publish publicly in this forum. Thank you. Charles :-)

charles, have you tested to see if the paint is any good for light frost protection? maybe do a test comparison with something sensitive and see, imagine just being able to spray frost protection on instead of messing around with sheets lol, maybe add some wood ash or something, since apparently throwing wood ash over leaves protects them from frost its just it comes off way 2 easy so its not really practicle unlike paint

Hello Taz D, Our products do protect branches and trunks coated with the brush-on IV Organic 3-in-1 Plant Guard from sunburn (summer) and sunscald (winter). The goldfinger banana (about 1-2 feet), near the Manzano "Apple" Banana, that I featured earlier this week, is the first banana to survive that location which receives no direct sunlight from about November through February. Between the lack of sunlight and chilly winter nights, if the banana cannot get to a height of 6+ feet to get some sunlight during the winter months... they would typically rot and die. So, when installing the goldfinger this past summer, the plant was coated 1x for sunstress.... which may have also give the plant insulation to get through winter. Of the about 5-6 leaves, only the oldest one died back during the entire winter months! :-) Charles

Hello Stan Watt, Thank you.... And yes, I did not have the equipment necessary to professionally record his presentation, as I will be doing at today's Garden Club meeting that I am hosting.... And another that I am presenting at next week in front of the California Rare Fruit Growers Association. I almost did not release this video.... based on the poor audio.... the rest of the videos for this year should not be impaired as this one was. Charles :-)

Yes, I had the same problems when I was giving lectures. Sounded fine in the room but when played back I sounded like I was half a mile away lol. Still, love your videos, very informative and everything is adaptable to my situation here in NE Scotland - except the weather; could you possibly send me some California weather - about enough for six months would be perfect. :)

Since rodents (squirrels especially) eat the fruit off of the trees, how does your product repel them? You're not suggesting painting the fruit, are you? Yum...white washed peaches.
@IVOrganic7 жыл бұрын
Hello Tortaboy, The rodent protection is against gnawing rodents that may girdle your trees, by coating the bottom 2-3 feet from the ground. Our products have been used to prevent sunburn damaged fruit (especially the south-side of the tree) on citrus, avocados, pomegranates, and other fruits where the skin is not consumed. However, even for fruits that are consumed, you can wash the product off with soap and rub the product off with the "rough" side of a dish sponge. Let me know if you have any other questions. Charles :-)
