As I read your comment, the song was still playing. I visualize as I read and I could see the funeral play out with the song in background. It brought tears to my eyes. I mean no disrespect, i know what your son went through with addiction. It's so hard to stop. And you really want to. So it becomes a battle inside yourself. Usually the addicted self wins. And the true self, the one that wants to quit, the one that wants to live becomes miserable because it's fighting an endless battle and too scared and ashamed to ask for help. I was that person for over 10yrs. I'm on the path to full on sobriety and have been able to stay on it because of GOD and complete honesty with my immediate family. And completely cutting off every one in my life that I did all that with. Which was basically everyone I hung out with. Best thing I ever did. They r not bad people just make bad decisions and have bad habits. But I can no longer be around them. I'm rambling, I'm sorry. I will pray for u and ur son. And I'm sorry he lost his life to drugs. I'm sorry you have to go through all that. My heart goes out to you

Alot of people think that by drinking or by consuming drugs is a way to deal with reality. I beg you all different. So many poeple have turned the corner from this terrible affliction. This destroys families and communities that we live in. I have turned my life around by serving our lord and saviour and believe me, his words give us the tools to overcome these afflictions. I pray that my sister changes her ways and turns her life around.

Tears come to my eyes everytime I hear this song becaus e it's the song my Dad played on his phone when scattering the ashes of the family dog on top of the first and last munroe (a munroe is a mountain which has a height above a certain level) that she ever climed! This dog had been with me all the way through childhood and most of the way into my teenage years but she passed away after we had to make the "one way trip to the vet". This dog had lived longer than everyone excepted, she fought and defeated cancer and defeated conquered many many mountains in her life. She loved to run, swim in the sea, chew bones that were literally longer than she was, chasing anything that moved (even leaves) and loving life. R.I.P Lacey! 28/10/2007-28/08/2019

Just out a week out 9t rehab. Spent a 100 days there as I was very close to death. Listened to this song everyday after coming out of intense care. It has helped Me no end. I don't want to die anymore. I've suffered enough & I pray everyday for the still suffering addict & for All the close friends I've lost through addiction. Tom Walker holds a very, very special message to every human being whether they're in addiction, recovery or they're just trying to cope with life better. Thank You Tom

Luv this song, but the Chili Peppers brought it to another level.Always think of my sons childhood friend that took the dark path, never to return.Always brings a tear.Heard many versions ,my favorite so far .Mainly because my lifelong luv of the bagpipes. My neighbor played them every night.Such moving sound.

Not nust hks gran its more personal. Tom was born in fife Scotland before moving to England.. but still speaks fluent Scottish to Scottish people and his family. The English accent is his second accent.
