Superman (It's not easy) - Five for fighting, was played at the end of Season one episode 16 "Stray" when the kid Ryan, who can read minds leaves the Kent farm to go live with his aunt. Also Remy Zero appeared as themselves in episode 21 of Season one "Tempest". They were the band playing at the high school dance.

I totally forgot about Five for Fighting - Superman song! That and Remos song, always takes me back to the days of watching this show once a week, with my mom, at home. Started watching Smallville for a 2nd time with my ex and now Im getting my new partner into it so she can appreciate how awesome and beyond its time this show was. Re: Remy Zero: They were together and active from 1989 to 2003, and a shortened version of their song "Save Me" from their third album "The Golden Hum" was used for the Smallville theme song. They briefly got back together for a reunion/memorial tour in 2010 after their drummer, Gregory Slay, died of complications of cystic fibrosis at the age of 40. August Cinjun Tate and Shelby Tate, who were the main vocal leads, released an album in 2020 under the name Zero Brothers. So as to whether they're still around and still active, it varies.

How well the music is integrated into the show, is a HUGE reason for Smallville's success. If I hear Boulevard of Broken Dreams, I see Clark getting ready to play in the state football championship. 100 Years, I see Jordan running past the cross-country team. My Happy Ending, Chole realizing she will never be with Clark, now that Lois is there. Frantic, Evil Clark breaking-up a bank robbery, to rob it himself. Life for Rent, Alicia sipping her coco at the skating rink.

1:54 It was the 16th episode of season one called "Stray," with that kid who had telepathic abilities. It was playing in the finals three minutes of the episode as he is going home with an adoptive parent after giving Clark his Warrior Angel comics. I love that Clark and Lex have patched things up enough to do a podcast together. :) Seriously, I really love Smallville. It's something I try to watch once a year cause, crazy as it sounds, I'm fascinated by the evolutions that the characters go through, particularly that of Clark and Lex. Clark and Lex are the epitome of "What if only the secret had been out?" That's the genius of Lex and how you, Michael Rosebaum, portrayed him. Lex was the rich boy who could never catch a break, even when things turned out his way. So as lousy to people as he eventually became, you understand cause you see this road map that led him there Just my 2 cents worth. :) .

I just finished re-watching Smallville and really felt I was reliving my teen years through the music. The moment that stuck with me the most is when Clark and Jonathan have that heart to heart about Clark becoming a man/hero while "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" played. That scene perfectly captured what made the 2000s shows so special.

Smallvile helped me develop my musical taste. I was 13, the only bands I knew were Linkin Park and Papa Roach. Smallville introduced me to a lot more bands. I always loved their musical selection. Rock and metal aren't very popular where I grew up but even people who didn't like those musical styles knew the Smallville theme song. My classmates and I would just randomly sing it sometimes. Honestly loved Smallville so much. One of my most favourite shows of all times! I had such a crush on Tom as a teen.

Hearing Tom sing is priceless. Please guys, Tom and Mike, record a song together. It would be great! Tom once said in an interview a few years ago that he sang when he was a student and the interviewer asked him if he still sang and he replied that he couldn't anymore because his vocal cords are no longer in good condition. . But if Tom recorded little by little in the studio I'm sure something really fantastic would come out because the beautiful voice is there and the intonation too.❤

Remy Zero made some pretty good songs...Music in TV/Movies is vital. If it wasn't for shows like Dawsons Creek, Smallville, most the music I listen to today wouldn't be in my collection. DC got me into Chantal Kreviazuk, Jewel, Nine days, Third eye blind. Smallville got me into Lifehouse etc which back then LastFM was pretty popular so you'd listen to the tracks on there and it would give you recommendations which led to me finding Ingrid Michaelson, Meiko etc. When Dawsons Creek got released on DVD, most of the music was changed and it didn't have the same emotional impact.

Remy Zero were together from 1989-2003, & 2010. Sadly, a band member passed away in 2010. Smallville definitely wins the prize for greatest theme song & most songs used out of all CW’s superhero shows, with The Flash at 346, Supergirl 312, Arrow only has 246 and so on. Paraphrasing red-k Clark in the Crimson episode “they’re not in the same league as Smallville” 😉😂😂. It’s a shame Smallville’s reduced budget impacted the number of songs played in later seasons 🤷‍♀️

The most amazing thing about the music for the show was how it tied in so closely with each story. I would watch the episodes with the “closed caption” ON, so to not miss any dialogue - and the words being spoken by the actors on screen and the words in the songs playing were so similar in context it blew me away! This show was so well thought of and so successful because of the time and effort from the actors, writers, directors, producers, etc! I already knew the song but after watching the episode where Clark confesses his secret to Lana only to cause her death afterwards, it had a whole new meaning for me. Is it just me or is there someone else out there who remembers being 14 and watching the first season and hearing Wherever You Will Go by The Calling as the 1st theme song, before they changed it to Save Me by Remy Zero. Also, Remy Zero also wrote the song Perfect Memory. I believe I've heard it once during the rewatch but I remember it from the scene where Lana is driving the red Dodge Ram back from dropping Whitney off at the bus stop when he was going into the marines. She is driving down the road, this song is playing while she is crying. A mailbox hits the truck and she swerves off the road into a ditch, wrecking the truck. A tornado is coming, and then Lana looks out the window, sees Clark, yells his name and then the truck with Lana inside gets swept up into the tornado. There is also a really cool YT vid (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3bVdayDYpqMa68) with that scene. This is a super old video. It was created somewhere around the late 2000s. There are many good YT vids out there like this one. I've probably seen them all. Hell, I've made some. But that's enough for tonight. It's time for bed now.

during the tornado storm on the season finale of the first season had that one song where Clark was about to go with Chloe but found out about Lana and saved here in the truck and also the tornado and the Kryptonian ship went well together, and if i had a very great band id love to make a killer diller theme song and a bunch of hits keep at it don't stop at the one keep going and keep the fires burning and like that mix cd shown in the series too id love to get my hands on that as well, it is like when the Jets did the theme song for Chip n Dale Rescue rangers for the series premier and music video kinda like the opposite of Remy zero they were already a well known band in the 80's but had that one theme song exclusive to the Disney Afternoon soundtrack but was never played anywhere else which was bad, but i know what you mean Mr. Welling hearing that one song in a place a 1 in a million chance of that happening but really awesome. and when someone does hear a theme song and they like it they go for everything else that group has ever made or will make kind of sets things in stone for them for many years to come.

I had a cat that would always run and hide when my dad sang that song. He would sing really loud a lot and the cat would be fine, but if he sang the smallville theme, even quietly, the cat would always without fail run away. It was the weirdest thing and we never found out why.
