I would love to see Michael and Tom go through some of the comics, novels and other tie-in stuff created for the show. Especially stuff like the Chloe Chronicles stuff. See them interview and call up some of the creatives involved with coming up the stories for that stuff. Because it was always interesting seeing the "resolutions" for characters like Emily Dinsmore's clones which you were never sure would ever pop up on the show again, have some resolution in a sense. Also pretty interesting that all those tie-in stuff about the Luthor machinations with clones, etc. that kept happening actually pay off eventually with Lex's return in the finale.

@ryandeffley76525 ай бұрын
I actually disagree with Al here. 1) Rehashed Clana again. 2) Johnathan risked anonymity to be in politics, which was totally out of character. His main priority was always protecting Clark's secret. 3) Lois had no real purpose. 4) Johnathan's death winds up being irrelevant because nothing changes in the end. At least if Clark had used his future knowledge to stop the accident and still tell Lana, it means something changed. But Johnathan dies for no reason. 5) This season started up the Clark, Lex, and Lana love triangle soap opera nonsense, which was the worst decision they ever made.

S4 had it's highlights. You really need to take the show at face value and not try to look too much into it. They did just fine writing them all out of the show. It sucks they couldn't expand upon it more, but I feel like it gave an interesting story for that season and started to show a bit more that Clark is vulnerable to magic, which really sets things up for Zatanna in the later seasons.

Its also something that comes directly from the comics. Our hero's first encounter with magic was in a story called "The Undersea City", from the Superman #14 book published in February of 1942. But this tale features the only appearance of an ocean sorcerer named Akthar, and the way Superman reacted to mysticism varied in the source material for about twenty years after that. It wasn't until Superman #171 in August 1964 that the story "The Curse of Magic!" was told, featuring the continued schemes of inter-dimensional prankster Mr. Mxyzptlk.

So didn’t Margot kidder was she’s emotional about the Christopher reeve’s death that’s why she’s never came back for season 4 arc with Clark’s stones stuff I am just wondering if it is or not? Also that witch storyline was mess if they wanted to do a stones they really didn’t need Lana’s connections with her witch ancestor moments in my opinion. Also that’s explains a lot that’s why they rushed through Jensen’s arc to be a hero and in love with Lana to villian siding with his mother or was that planned because he didn’t know if that is or did he though? I don’t know randomly thinking and overthinking season 4 as always. And thanks Al for explaining season 4 in a nutshell.

2:53 No, It was the fact that brain-washed Kal-El could fly, but Clark couldn't. It made Clark look developmentally challenged, and the longer it went on, the more I saw it as an insult. It's my biggest pet peeve about Smallville: the fact that you guys never wanted Superman. So you gave him a mental block. You gave him a prototypical superhero identity. You wrote the story in circles to avoid allowing Clark to become Superman. The slavish devotion to the "no Tights, no Flight" rule really upset me as a fan.

@kyleellis1825 I'm still trying to figure out how the crystals ended up four hundred years in earth's pass when Jor El sent them 20 before the destruction of Krypton. Through a portal, which I like to call a stargateight, and it was revealed in season 9. In season 4, they said that Clarks great great grandfather brought the stones of knowledge to earth. One of the stones ended up three thousand years in the past in egypt. I think season 4 storyline with the stones of knowledge would have been way better if they were in the ship when clark destroyed it and they got scattered all over the world and he had to look for them. I think that would have been a way better story line but i'm not the director. It was also revealed that the Orb was sent to earth thousands of years gos but in season 9 they Compredicted that too. Cause they said that Jor El sent them at the same time. The stones and the Orb.

To be honest my biggest issue is how they never tried with Clark and Chloe. Clark basically bitched for three seasons straight about how he could not be with Lana because she did not know his secret and at the same time Chloe had not only his secret, but she knew and did not tell him and unlike Lana in _Reckoning_ she proved that she could keep his secret and take care of herself (unlike Lana who could not last a day). I know the writers wanted to keep Lana and Clark endgame at the time so I think part of the problem is that they could not think of a way to break of Chloe and Clark had the relationship. In general, relationships in the show usually break up because of Superhero business. No one broke up because the couples just did not fit. Also, personal opinion but I actually liked Lex and Lana. While I was not the biggest fan of the drama it caused between Lex and Clark, I liked how the built up the attraction Lex had for Lana and vice versa. That said after hooking up with Lex, I thought her character was unredeemable.
@clairemendoza80825 ай бұрын
@@henrypeters5291 Lex always wanted what Clark had. The mom and dad. The loving son. Lex never had that. All his money, mansion, cars, etc couldn't fill what he truly wanted. Love. It did make sense for Lex and Lana hooking up. Clark shattered her heart in a million pieces in 5x16 when he said he didn't love her. He said that because he felt that was the only way he could protect her. Too bad the writers couldn't have written it so that Lana loose her memories of ever knowing Clark and planting her with fake memories. That would have been a very interesting story line IMO. After Clark broke up with her she turned to Lex for comfort. He was the shoulder to cry on. Chloe remained such an outstanding support for Clark during that time. Then again I think she was still secretly pining for him. What I admired about Chloe is that she never lost faith in him and remained constant and by his side. She handled all the Kryptonian stuff incredibly well. Chloe never stopped loving him. The writers should have at least allowed Clark and Chloe to date for at least 1 season. I believe the closest that ever came to that was the "Lexmas," episode. Oh and the famous kiss in the season 5 finale. That kiss was amazing. No spells. No one under the influence. I jumped up from my couch and clapped!! I thought "finally now maybe this will go somewhere." Then Jimmy comes in in season 6 and I slap my forehead with my hand and I'm like "oh boy here we go again." LOL! Chloe would follow Clark anywhere. No matter how deep the ocean or dark the abyss. She would always be there. Her heart will always belong to him. I think Clark always regretted not telling her he wanted to explore their feelings past friendship. What could have been. That's why I'm writing fanfic of my own lol :)
@henrypeters52915 ай бұрын
@@clairemendoza8082 So my issue with Lana and Lex is not that they fell for each other, it is that they basically needed to dumb Lana down and rewrite her character in seasons 5 and 6 for it to work. Two of Lana's core character traits have always been her intelligence and her independence, traits that she actually developed over the first three seasons. But when she dated Lex she basically disregarded several of the sinister things he did in the first five seasons, including the fight she had with him in season 5 after Clark got shot. She would defend him to Chloe and Clark despite knowing some of the things he did in the past and then flip her switch on meteor infected people so that she was closer to him. Like I said, after everything she said to Clark after hooking up with Lex, I really felt there was no redemption for her. As for Clark and Chloe, if we are honest, the perfect opportunity would have been season 7. If we are honest about it, Clark and Cloe hooking up right after he and Lana broke up would have felt forced but again, I think the writers realized that if they put Clark and Chloe together, they never would have been able to break them up. And again, I know that the writers mistakenly wanted to make Clark and Lana endgame.
