1. Thank you for putting this together. It takes a special kind of person to put out free, helpful content online that others can benefit from. 2. Nothing prepared me for the horrors of what lay waiting for me in the piping under the sink. It wasn't just my wife's hair. It had fused with some sort of demonic sewer creature to create an amalgamation, when bought forth into the light could have awakened the undead. I cannot look at my wife the same. I should have burned down the entire house. The horror.

I tolerated my clogged sink for months after chemicals and boiling water didn't do the trick. I saw your video and thanks to your simple instructions, tried it and successfully cleared out the small hairs that had built-up and gunked over half the diameter of my drain pipe (no wonder I kept having backup issues). I didn't have newspaper so I used brown packing paper from Amazon orders--only needed one pass to swipe it all. Got a little worried when the paper felt like it was getting stuck, but a broom handle successfully pushed it all through (I didn't think I had a screwdriver long enough). The hardest part was getting the drain plug in the right position based on the hole chosen in the rod underneath (shown at 2:08 - I have a different one which its clasp fell off and I had to guess where it was when putting it back on). Thank you!!

I'm so grateful to the people who make these available. I removed the goose neck part and only a little bit of water came out, so I decided to remove the pipe just above it. The little bit of water still in the sink wasn't draining, and there wasn't much in either of the pipes to justify it being clogged. I took apart a wire coat hanger and threaded it into the hole and I suddenly heard a plop noise. There was a giant chunk of black hair somewhere in the top part of the drain. Gross, but wonderful that I didn't have to pay some guy to come in and fix something so fixable. Thanks to KZbin I've changed car batteries, learned the easy way to split wood, and now, can fix a sink drain.

I am a 23 year old man and I couldn't loosen the goose rings, the other roommate, who turned 29 last week couldn't make it either. Yes, we exist!

Not going to lie, this job seemed so much bigger to do in my mind. I knew I had to complete this project! Before I saw your video I was hesitant. #1 thank you for being honest about having to endure the smell from this project. I had my gloves, air freshener and plastic tongs to handle what I could not. Haha …plus, I used a skewer to assist with the paper towels I used to clean out everything. Gross indeed…Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I truly appreciate you and your gift of teaching others. My mother now has an unclogged bathroom sink at her house 😊

I was able to drain the water but after putting the pipe back, water still backs up. Is there anything else I can try before I call a professional?

Please note, if you are tight on time, or your house is old & you haven't done any work on those elbows in a long time, just do 1st part of video - undo the drain plug rod (2:00), & use long needle nose pliers and/or something with a hook (retrofitted metal hanger) to pull up what you can - this usually works. You want to avoid having to try / fail rethreading elbows if you haven't touched them in a long time, esp. metal elbows - that can be very hard to rethread w/o leaking. Learned the hard way. :) Great video - you can tell the time you put in getting all the right camera angles!!

Thank you Sir! Thank you for taking the time to show me how to do this very simple (but time consuming & yuckie job!) My father knows how to do everything but 1- he doesn’t do how-to videos for me 2- he doesn’t have the patience to show me & 3- he’s older & weaker now so he doesn’t do many of the jobs he used to do because, thank the good Lord, he’s now going on 2 years cancer-free!!! Pleazze make more videos for me and kids to learn to fix everything in our home! This is an invaluable tool to have!
