i have made this delish salad in the past with rotini pasta, Italian seasoning, and (a little mayo in place of the balsamic). It's more creamy, but I love this lighter version. I have a ton of basil in my garden and am always looking for recipes. Thanks for sharing :)

Nice cherry tomato slicing! That is a great trick, and this looks like such a delicious salad! I am not a big fan of salads (gasp!). I know, they are good for you, but I always find them both boring to eat and time consuming to make. This recipe may change my attitude to salad. It does look amazing, and it's hard not to be caught up in Natasha's enjoyment of it!

Hi Natasha, just to let you know that I make a salad simular to this. However I use zucchini rather than cucumber. The zuc holds up better than the cuc and is slightly sweet. Try it!

I make this salad often--it's delicious. I squeeze half a lemon in it as well and add fun shaped past to it and red onion. It can be a meal on its' own with served fish next with it. If you want to impress your guests sprinkle toasted pine nuts over it. I like mozzarella cheese torn by hand as it picks up dressing better and bigger chunks are more yummy to eat...

I make a similar salad but I don't use balsamic vinegar, its a little too strong for me, prefer fresh squeezed lemon juice instead. Chopped scallions is also a nice addition.
