You don’t always have the time, but the cheapest option is to make your own soup. Mushroom soup is an easy to make. Butter in a saucepan, sauté off your quartered mushrooms, milk and water and there you go. Tinned tomato is the only one I do buy as it’s a quick comfort meal after a day working outside. One thing I have noticed is that the amount in the tins has reduced.

And the price too a tin of Heinz soup is £1.10p I would rather be a litre of petrol in my car 😢

Just check the sugar content Martin.Your favourite one has a whopping 12g of sugar and the highest fat content.It's no wonder it tastes so good!

I do look at sugar/salt content ect. That would be good to include in comparison tests.

This is bang on - the Lidl soup is streets ahead of anything else out there we use it all the time. Also the Deluxe range of Lidl foods outstrip all the other top supermarket brands including the Waitrose and M&S food ranges and again at a fraction of the price. Great and accurate review - well done.

Growing up in UK it was always Heinz or known soups after shopping on Saturday. Other times it was homemade soup. Here in Canada it's Heinz or Campbell tomato soup for me. We don't get the other brands. I always eat a peanut butter sandwich with it to dip, delicious!

I always put some extra salt, extra black pepper, tiny bit of garlic and some fresh basil in my Heinz tomato soup. Makes it taste yum. Oh and Lidl in Denmark does not sell these, they have a totally different brand with way too much sugar in it :( I don't like sugar.

This was an interesting result. This reinforces my beleif that the Aldi stuff is the same as the branded stuff and probably comes off the same production line. What was a bit of a surprise is that you both reckon the Lidl one is better than the other 2. I've just bought a few tins of soup from Aldi today!

Hubby always loved the Heinz’s Tomato soup but now prefers Lidles soups. They do really nice chunky vegetable soups too.

Heinz uck! Anything but heinz for me, they put far too much sugar in their food. I will buy any supermarket brand, although I do like baxters as a treat, either scotch broth or highlanders broth
