Thank you John. Chempak no 4 will be fine to firm and ripen your onions but be careful not to over feed and split your bulbs.

Tera plus is a commercial fertiliser sold in 25kg bags. If you live in the North East I will fix you up with smaller amounts. Otherwise your local allotment society can obtain it from there wholesale supplier. I use the high potassium for crops like tomatoes and peppers and the high nitrogen for the leeks and brassica .

Great video again john, I have some side shoots coming out of the top of my pendle blanch leeks does this mean they are going to go to seed or is this normal ? Any advice appreciated

Hi Mark, if your leeks are for showing this year and not seeding from last year , it sounds to me like they have secondary growth (suckers). These can be caused by a check to the plant anytime in its growing season. With our weather patterns being cold and really hot this is normally the cause. If your show is a local pub show they usually let this go, but if it’s a top show or open show they could be disqualified . This is a problem for lots of growers. I am trying to breed new varieties of blanch leek to overcome this problem. I will address this in my next post.

Hello Michael , the measure I use for Dynamek is 2ml into 5litres of water. This will control both thrip and red spider mite.
