the darker footprints in patch 3 definitely look wrong, way too dark. They really should be more like in patch 2. It really makes you wonder if this is an another mistake on there end. Because you cant tell me that those dark footprints are the intended look.

@@stefanroelofs1619 is the same texture used everywhere? I do remember the original having very dark prints on dirt, but never got as far as antarctica. If it's literally the same decal for all surface types that'd explain why it looks so out of place, if it appears correct on other surfaces. Probably didn't check them on snow.

The movement halting while quick switching is a negative for me, Because it cuts you from freedom of combat...

As I mentioned, it leaves you momentarily vulnerable. At least before you could run away and create some space while you switched weapon

The "dark footprints" and the sudden stop when quick-switching weapons look like unintended bugs and/or regressions. Hopefully this will be fixed in upcoming patches, as there is also A LOT of stuff that could and *should be* improved, like fire (which should illuminate the area around it and also have better sprites) and water (water surface is lacking and too primitive looking, and underwater lacks warping and debris)

Footprints were always dark, Patch 2 actually messed them up and made them too transparent. They're just more noticeable in Antarctica since the ground is white. They're back to normal now, which looks significantly better.

@@calypsis No it doesn't. It looks like Lara's boots are leaking oil/petrol stains. Many graphical techniques that worked to give a certain impression in the old engine, give off a completely different vibe in the new 4K-ready modern engine. It would be akin to insist on rendering the big white squares from TR1 & TR2's OG water surface in the new engine: It just wouldn't work nor convey the same impression because the newer graphics require different artistic sensibilities to adapt the intentions of the original vision

Yeah its very ironic (in the context of "modern" & "remaster"): In OG TR2 theres flickering light effects that illuminate the walls; in 3 theres a lot. Switch to "remaster mode" and all that light animation disappears and you get a visually boring static looking light instead... Theres other niggles like this too (like you said, the new water) but all I can concentrate on RN is the pain of the Aldwych Drill bug...

I have two guesses: 1. They didn't take notes of some changes while doing them and end up forgoting about then when the patch released. 2. They do not mention them on purpose due some internal issue that may hold them back, like... when the game first released, the "dev" version released with Epic Games was pretty much nearly the whole patch 1 done. This version was "corrected" by downgrading at the time.

They broke flare and muzzle flash effects when held against the sky box too. Also the water texture cannot be seen when looking through windows or other transparent objects. (check offshore rig, its immediately apparent there) Honestly I hope they fix these issues before launch because none of these existed in the previous patch and I feel like the only reason they (fixed) the water texture in the first place was because of rabid TR fans that were consistantly posting nitpicks every 5 seconds on TRF.

You should make video about bugs caused by the 3rd patch not only darker footprints. The water is too bright like a milk. You can see this eg in Croft Manor in TR2 in the swimming pool and outside the building. You can't see now a flame of flares when you use a flare on the skybox background :( We need quick fix for these bugs. Let's alert Aspyr about them using their formular for bugs on their website

You forgot to mention the fix of Japanese characters in TR2. Some characters were missing in game while they were in the strings. I guess it was a font issue? The Japanese font spacing issue for all 3 games also seems to be fixed 😁

Been a while since i played the Caves level, but the patch notes mention fixing a issue with misplaced snow. What exactly was this about, does anyone have a comparison between the original pc/psx version and the supposedly misplaced snow that they fixed in patch 3?

Yes the game doesn't need online access to play. If you have an older version backed up, somewhere you can still play that version with a save from the updated version

Correction, the footprints were always darker. Patch 2 messed them up and made them nearly invisible, but on the white snow it makes it less obvious. But now they're back to normal, which is much better since visible footprints fit the game's style better.

The shotgun is not visible anymore in photo mode in Tomb Raider 2 Home Sweet Home. I tried it in both classic and modern graphics. I remember before the patch, it was only available in modern graphics. I guess they decided to remove it from both styles.

The game freezes in the Nevada Desert level when activating the lever to collect the detonator in the elevator the game freezes and you have to restart it from the PS4 or PS5 desktop.This didn't happen before patch 1.04

I have a question: If i remove the mapping for obtaining the hotkey to load game what happens to the sprint action? As far as i have understood, the rest of the buttons are asigned (except RB in Xbox or R1 in PlayStation)

Awesome video as always :D interesting update, patch2 of snow prints was sort of more realistic/correct, india tempel was nice in patch2 but ok in patch3, i think in original tr3 it was not green but lighting made it green ish, i think it was more beige/yellow ish perhaps :D are the hidden photos stil in patch3? i have not uupdated my tr3 since it wasw launched on gog :D

What do you mean by hidden photos? If you mean the posters in the level "sleeping with the fishes" they were listed in the official patch notes as being re-added

The weapon quick switching is certainly broke on modern controls (and, as an aside, modern controls feel...heavier now which has thrown me off after getting used to how snappy her turns were). Sometimes Lara will veer off to the right when you switch, and you have to stop moving in order to fix that. As well as stopping if you want to do quick switch again, otherwise, you just keep opening up the inventory.

What about keyboard controls? That's how I learned and prefer them. I guess I assume those are the same.

I believe they are if using keybaord/mouse. I have seen reports that the save load hot key on the keyboard doesn't work anymore, but I haven't checked it myself. The patch notes did say that hotkeys don't work when using thumbsticks...in other words, an xbox or PlayStation controller plugged into a PC

I have been stuck on level 2 of TR 1 since a few month. 😅 Yea i am playing these games for my first time. Could never find any key or whatever. But tonight i found an extra room. With a block and found 2 things in there. Anyway just one question. If i do things in the game. When you save will it restart the save from where you saved or will it send you back to the start of the mission?

It kind of defeats the point of "Quick" switching... you may as well go into the menus and select a weapon that way if Lara stops still when you do it.

There are a couple of mods on Nexusmods with new poses but they included all the original poses along with them too. I made a .txt with 200 poses but forgot to make a copy 🤣

I hope Sony fixes the trophies for PS5; they've grouped them all together, whereas on ps4, each game has their own trophy list and separate platinums. This is why I play primarily on ps4.

Can't wait for Patch 4 hope there's dress select for Classic Mode, and with Level Select (both modes please) FMV Select Plus more and bug fixes and actual refixes that improves then makes it ugly. Classic mode won't be getting changed in terms of how it looks. This is the "preservation of the originals" the developers mentioned pre-release. Its the remastered textures etc that will be getting all the updates

Since this more recent patch the friggin menu keeps opening at random for me. No when I press a button or do a specific action, just constantly and for no reason. EDIT: AHHHH (first thing you mention lol). I wonder if I'm pressing the left thumbstick a little too hard while doing a direction and it's "clicking" because it's always the "load game" menu that opens. If there any way to turn this hit key off? I hate it.

There isn't a way to turn it off as its locked to the thumbstick presses so it will happen often if your using the left thumbstick to move. To stop it, don't use the stick for movement and use the d-pad instead, it will feel even clunkier in tank though

Consoles should be receiving updates - Patch 1 was released in March Patch 2 was released in April Patch 3 was released in June

In the last level of Tomb Raider 1 UB, a mummy is frozen at the end of the last level. This has not been fixed. Otherwise you don't get the achievement "kill all Atlantean creatures". 😕

This can happen if you have got into an area too quickly or through a glitch. Normally if you go back the way you should have come from and then go back into that room the correct way it should trigger it to move.

@@Dario-oo7tn I meant it was not originally an AI upscale. An unfortunate issue that has become more apparent with these remasters is that people can be a little too trigger happy calling things AI and don't necessarily recognise RL sources or genuine artistry.

@@bazlmoon I use AI all the time, and I talk to the person who made the textures on the game too lol. To me it looks like an upscale with overpainting. AI was used in lots of textures in the game. They left a few in the Feb 14th release but swapped them out in later patches. I can send you the original version of the poster if you want 🤷‍♂ I even made a mod to replace a forgotten AI upscale in St Francis Folly, but they fixed that one themselves.. Again I can show you the AI texture they left in the game in the Feb14th build.

I'm not saying there isnt AI being used in the game, but that it wasn't carpet bombed in and had significant amounts human work done too that involved other methods to get improved textures. Ultimately I can guarantee you 100% that particular texture was not an AI upscale, but a human artist improving their work - and that quite a few examples that people have cited as AI have not in fact been AI.

I'm refusing to download this update. This is more like a downgrade. Unnecessary features. Ive saved so many times across all 3 games that I'm not bothered to pause the game, scroll down to the passport and save, or switch weapons. This was supposed to be simply a remaster, not "let's fix what's not broken" remaster.

@@TheGameBreakersUK Would love there to be a Flare hotkey. I'd take that over the save hotkey. That's the biggest turn off. Imagine doing a jump and you accidentally press the save hotkey.
