The Tombill Gold Mines legal dispute involved a clash over mining claims in Manitouwadge. In 1953, Tombill Gold Mines filed a lawsuit against General Engineering, claiming that certain mining claims and properties were held in trust for them. The lawsuit stemmed from General Engineering's management of Tombill's interests in the Little Long Lac area and Bill Hargraft's employment as Tombill's resident engineer before joining General Engineering. The case garnered significant attention due to its potential impact on industry consulting-retainer relationships. However, the Ontario Supreme Court dismissed Tombill's claim, ruling that General Engineering and Hargraft had no obligation to pass on claims and properties to Tombill.
