I absolutely love Doc's expression and his choice of words at 1:31. He's basically saying "Go on, call me a cheater out loud and try to do something about it." He knows that even when drunk, exhausted, and coughing up his lungs, he could still gun Ike down before he could so much as raise a gun. And he's just wishing Ike would try.

@@jadocastor5118 I respect your animosity against Doc being a badass, but reality doesn't support your conclusion. There was no unfair advantage [law backing him] when he rode out alone to face Johnny Ringo, the deadliest pistolero of the Cowboys. And it wasn't the first time Doc stared down the Cowboys with guns blazing. The reality is Doc walks it like he talks it and has the stones to back it up.

@@eazye088 I think Ike’s tantrum was caused by a combination of being cleaned out at the poker table, being mocked by the guy who cleaned him out, and knowing there was nothing he could do about it. The Earp brothers wouldn’t let him hurt or kill a shitfaced Doc, and he had to know that he’d have zero chance against him in a legitimate fight.

And I can assure you that Ike wouldn't win it. Doc knew Latin, could recite lines from Shakespeare during gunfights and quote the bible better than a southern Baptist. It wasn't just that he was a doctor. He was a tremendously well read, educated man. The combination of that with his drinking, gambling, pistol shooting ways just makes him one of the most compelling Western characters ever. That and his verbal wit. And the fact that he was living with a death sentence, which made him super dangerous. I also find it interesting how egalitarian his relationship was with Kate. She was known for being able to whip out a pistol at times to get Doc out of some bad situations. Sorts of reminds of American novelist Jack London and his relationship with his 2nd wife. Jack was a bit of an outlaw himself. Very different for the times. Of course Doc and Jack were not the kinds of dudes for settling down and having kids. They were ideal guys for attracting women who were before their times but who also were attracted to bad asses.

mariusz sabadasz yea I was talking about real life and was said at end of movie that Virgil despite the use one of arm became a town sheriff as he lost of the use of his arm forever when was shot by shotgun blasts. Yes Ike Clanton shot and killed off his horse during robbery and a town Marshall killed him after giving chase. Ike Clanton was killed in 1887 years after events in Tombstone most of Cowboys all dead by then and Clanton and last few Cowboys were finished off. After Clanton was killed it the end of Cowboys but they were pretty done for after Wyatt and Doc along with their men took out Curly Bill and over a dozen cowboys during vendetta ride in 1882

I love how Wyatt tries to talk doc out of going on but stops when doc says I will not be pawed at it truly shows how much Wyatt knows his friend. That’s also probably not the first time Wyatt and Morgan have had to carry doc out of a bar.

Kilmers ability t 'kill' each scene with his onscreen prescence, charisma an charm, t make even profound seasoned actor Russell look like a 2bit extra is the stuff of his own legendary multi-talented portfolio.

Wild bill was pretty awesome too,, his snicker laugh after ( he's just drunk ) was classic, and the drinks are on me... Texas rangers... the little crossfire ... like each scene was it's own classic ... it's an awesome classic over all for sure... I helped to prompt a Val Kilmer Skit in Sydney Australia , he went into character as Mark Twain with a joke about dogs showing more appreciation for food , then some villages showed gratitude for the first thanks giving... itnwas to an international indigenous audience ... well written for the crowd

Like someone truly drunk, Doc takes a second to realize he's been touched, then smoothly declares, "I will not be pawed at, thank you very much." It's a fucking acting clinic.

Even though Doc Holliday didn’t make a lot of good decisions later in life, he still was very smart and not dumb like Ike. I think that’s why Doc taunts Ike knowing he is not bright and asking Ike to have a spelling contest. It’s also cool that Doc used to be a dentist, still an educated man.

Such a great movie with a great script and more important it was cast so very well. The star of the movie was certainly Doc Holiday who stole the show but also made everyone else's role so much better.. One of my all time favorites for sure...
