It’s gets expensive to follow your channel. I know you get that a lot. You are trustworthy. You can sell anything you honestly like 👍 I got Final Cut now! Thanx! :) Rodecaster Pro on the way. We have similar setups. Yours are much better but I really like your way of thinking. Got ECamm, Atem Mini, Elgato Camlink 4K, the prompter, second screen, M1 Mac, I use the lighting that I already had for stage lighting. Studio Par Spotlights in every corner, RGB uplights for the background with dmx programing controlled by an app in the phone or tablet. ADJ Airstream DMX. I use first the things that I already owned before streaming came in to my life and a lot works fine. Like the Shure SM58:s, sounds great with the foam-cover! :) One thing that we need for this workflow is to learn how to make our own graphic overlays and the animated ones also. If you got clients that wants a production with their colors and profile/branding. What are the best options. Budget and no budget. This I think takes the productions to a higher level. Worth spending time on this.

Hi Tom! Do you have a fancy workflow for importing your 4k footage from the multiple cameras? I am trying to find a workflow that is quicker than taking the memory card out of multiple cameras and then adding them into Final Cut independently. I have a Rodecaster Pro thats taking the input from my mics and running them into the Atem Mini Extreme Iso so I can quickly put content into final cut that's 1080p, however, if I want to transition the 1080p I have to take all memory cards out of my cameras and then switch them out on FCP. I am working with a Sony a7c and will be adding additional ones for 2-4 more angles. I would be ecstatic to hear how you do things on your end. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated! Also, I'd like to note that you are doing fantastic in the KZbin space and have a refreshing approach which makes your content stand out, Kudos!
@tombuck3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rich! I don't really do anything fancy- I made a Final Cut workflow video a few months ago and everything is pretty much the same. My wife records everything through Ecamm, but I still use memory cards. Once I'm done I import all the footage to a folder (I usually clean up my studio and stuff while waiting for the import) and then add the clips to Final Cut. I create a new Library each month and a new Event for each project that month. Once I'm finished I delete the Event and also "delete the generated Library files" to save space. Everything gets moved to an archive drive and I'm ready to start again 👍

Or should I convert before editing to a constant frame rate and convert all the audio channels to the same bitrate of 48k?

Love one-click sync! Couple of questions: 1) does FCP work to keep that nested clip in sync automatically and continuously as you edit? Sounds like it does. And, 2) I'm thinking of jumping from Premiere Pro, especially if there's an M1(X?) in my future, and was wondering if you had any resources for quick tips on getting started in FCP? I started way back in the day with FCP, but never used FCPX.... Thanks!
@tombuck3 жыл бұрын
*1.* Yes! (or at least I haven't had any issues thus far) *2.* The easiest way to make the leap from Premiere to FCP is to _not_ try and transplant your Premiere habits. Instead of thinking "it should be like this" because that's what you're used to, think of what makes the most sense and it'll likely be there. And of course Google/KZbin are the best teachers. There will be a learning curve, but it's not too bad and I'm sure you'll love it in the end. If you've ever used Resolve, a lot of the controls and shortcuts are the same, so that makes things easy too.

Hi Tom - Boy - have I binged your FCP videos in the last couple of days. Just found you - Subscribed because your content and delivery is excellent! Learned a ton, and still have more to learn. Thanks for the great work. As for the synching -- did like you said to synch a single video file and single audio file, each about 27mins long. (FCP makes it easy -- seemingly). Picture perfect in the beginning -- start noticing them out of synch about the 9 min point. By the end of the video, probably a good 3 second diff between audio tracks. Looks like really bad lip sync. Video filmed at 30 FPS, Paid no attention to speed setting on audio (ZOOM Lav mic). Am I better to chop the video up into clips and synch shorter clips? Or its there something I should be doing in the recordings themselves? Oh -- and love Love LOVE the puns. Such a great touch and distinguishing feature!!
@tombuck2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for all the kind words John! Audio drift is a common problem and usually has to do with a few audio settings and frame rates. I've found that recording audio at 48000kHz with a camera set to 24fps will usually stay perfectly in sync. There are a couple of ways to fix drift: 1. The Brute Force Method™: split your audio clip every few minutes and then nudge it over a few frames. Go through the entire project and then you'll be all set. Can be pretty tedious depending on video length though. 2. Slow down/speed up your audio by a small amount like 0.01%. This can help align everything and the change in speed is really too small to affect the pitch/tone. Hope that helps!
@mezzeandtapas2 жыл бұрын
@@tombuck Hi Tom -- thank you for the reply. I tried Method 2 but it appears that the audio inspector just takes whole numbers -- when I enter 99.99, or 100.01, both round back to 100, and my audio is still out of synch. I've resorted to Method 1, which isn't that bad. The good news is this is a 'practice' video, and I'll be sure to check my record settings when I move to 'real' videos. I appreciate your help!

@tombuck3 жыл бұрын
The reason Final Cut works so well is because it’s in Apple’s ecosystem. If they had to port it over to different processors and operating systems, it’d be a lot less stable. If you haven’t tried Davinci Resolve, I highly recommend it. You can download the basic version for free and it has a very Final Cut approach to a lot of things.
@DaivG3 жыл бұрын
There are dozens of services that'll let you pay a small monthly fee to access a virtual OS X desktop for a month. If you're really interested in Final Cut Pro but don't want to commit, you can do it that way instead of the ~$300 used Mac route I'd usually suggest for people looking to try out a Mac. However, I'd also recommend DaVinci Resolve if you intend to stay in your Windows ecosystem.
