Alot of people delete that timing chain guide since it's known to break off into pieces if the chain gets too much slack and hits it too much. Super good timing info here you should put that in the title homie!!! Keep up the great content love the videos 👍🏻

Interesting, it makes sense, it doesn’t really stop the chain from doing anything major but flopping around which is a tensioner problem anyway and thank you for the kind words sir!! Haha

Take all the time you need releasing videos, the main thing is that you are taking your time building your engine right, Why rush and end up having it break. Great job :)
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
True! That’s why the motor is out right now, rushed it when I first purchased

HEY DID YOU USE THE S14 FSM FOR TORQUE SPEC?
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
YES! All specs were directly out of the S14 Sr20det Factory Service Manual

The cas bolt on the right should be in the center, not gonna hurt anything but if you timing is advanced you wont be able to adjust the CAS very much from the looks of where the bolt is.
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
Very good point, didn’t think about that. I did line up everything so timing should be good but I’ll have to wait and see

@@kriswyche Depending on your ecu you can make small adjustments to the "Trigger angle" or whatever timing input your ecu decides to call it, can generally be adjusted + or - 20 degrees.

Good video man! How well did the Tomei head gasket hold up? Any issues with sealing due to the block surface?
@kriswyche Жыл бұрын
still running it to this day, even reused it after rebuild with copper spray for good sealing. no issues at all. i did have head resurfaced and the deck checked so surfaces were mint

@@kriswyche Glad to hear that :) I'm considering running a new Tomei MLS HG on my Toyota 4AGE 20 Valve blacktop engine since I'll be changing piston rings soon. It's never overheated so there shouldn't be any warpage on either surface. I might send the head in for a light resurface but then hand surface the deck at home. I hope that if I go through with the Tomei HG this will suffice. I'll get a straight edge to measure both the deck and head surfaces just in case.

Did you have any issues with your head gasket? I noticed its a tomei Usa one and I heard they're having issues lately.
@kriswyche3 жыл бұрын
No issues at all, all head gaskets are pretty much the same only difference is material and thickness. The reason they fail is because the mating surfaces are uneven or the head studs are torqued incorrectly
@DNightNinja2 жыл бұрын
lol man those are hydraulic lifters not oil squirters. easy mistake if you dont know what youre looking for but you also should have decked the block as well, the tolerances for the sr are pretty tight for that sealing area but decent job imo for a first build you probably learned a lot. if anything tho dont run really high boost or run the engine too hard it might fail at the head gasket from the sealing surface not being decked correctly unless your head is within tolerance and you checked with feeler gauges and im totally wrong.

Have done a full rebuild with resurfacing head and deck, also have copper gasket spray
@DNightNinja2 жыл бұрын
Goootcha I’m assuming you did so in a future video then but sick to see! You don’t get a lot of dudes doing their first sr right on yt (watched a guy the other night hit his block with a damn die grinder and gasket remover heads 🤮) but seems like you hit the nail on the head with the copper spray on the gasket etc.

@@DNightNinja yes my first time but I did the best I could on everything. I recorded the entire process and made a series on my page, it’s pretty recent
