My point has been proven in the comments here and on Facebook..... I'm just poking fun of what I see across social media etc, and at 4:06 I tell you my recommendation. People are getting offended by my video, but are then giving me sh!t about 4WD not being proper drifting etc... the irony! Anyway, those that know me, know that I mean no harm and those that don't know me...well... take it however you want lol.

I have a little story here friends: I have a friend who knows how to drift actual cars and created basically a drifting crew in our country. Unfortunately its pretty hard finding a legal place to drift real cars in so he and a bunch more people formed a crew so then can pool out money and rent a place to drift cars in, usually warehouses and parking lots with a lot of space or open spaces for lease. Since I'm a poor fellow back then I couldn't really afford a car so I got myself RC Drift cars instead. He would always invite me to watch on places when they go drifting. One day I decided to show them my RC drift cars and it was an instant hit to him and his crew that when they do decide to go drifting they would bring their RC cars too, all types of RC cars they even eventually have bashers and crawlers with them. . When I introduced him to RC the first thing he ask was if it was an RWD. I told him it was AWD and he was quite surprise on how easy it was to drift it. He said that it kinda make sense its an AWD for scaled simulation because the controller was lacking in more control options (ex hand break etc) I gave him a RWD next and although he still drifted it like a champ he did admit that it was a lot harder to maintain control and that he kinda wanted to have more options for controlling the car. I gave him that kit and when he returned it to me a few weeks after, the car was all decked out with him adding manual breaks and a sort of gearing option (I eventually gave him the car because the upgrades he did was too expensive for me to have). . When I asked what car he preferred he said he really liked the AWD one because it was really easy to get into and he had lots of fun with it. For simulation purposes, it doesn't drift like the real thing but it does feel like drifting the real thing. The RWD one was really good too he said, and he enjoyed tweaking and upgrading that car that I gave him, but it takes a lot of effort and skill (and upgrades too) for him to properly utilize the kit. If he was to use an RC car he would prefer an AWD, If he wants to drift a RWD he'd rather be drifting the real thing because both of them takes that much effort. He would only play the RWD if he is unable to drift his real car. . I guess the point here is maybe drifting really is just about having fun.

I remember buying a yokomo belt driven RWD Honda nsx many years ago, (20ish?). The tyres supplied were not good. Spent every touring car heat drifting for fun before drifting was even a thing. Definitely the slowest car there. And I called it powersliding at the time, 😬. It also had a crash back system on the front wishbones, an undertray, scale wheels, telescopic drive shafts and many other great features . Can't remember this cars fate, maybe I should brave searching the loft. Anybody remember these cars?

We need to meet up and maybe do some “drifting” I miss 4wd if I’m honest, genuine countersteer overdriven rear. The issue now is rwd geometry and setup has far surpassed the original problem we had of not being able to mimic a real RWD drift car unless we ran counter gears. Awd 50/50 drifting is fine for large outdoor areas.

I learned the art of steer from the rear back in the day in a ford 100e. In my opinion a power slide is just controlled over steer and drifting is just a load of power slides strung together. The truth is that if people call it drifting then it's drifting. I mean what's the proper terminology for the other car park activity that folk are into these days? I believe the kids call it dogging?

Stupid thing is NOBODY is going to tell Ken Block in his Gymkhanna videos he’s not properly drifting and at end of the day he’s normally in a 4wd! 🖕👊💥 If it’s sideways going round a corner on purpose then by definition it’s drifting. I 100 percent agree that drifting is all about having fun. I don't know why people have to be so competitive and overall be jerks about sliding a car around corners. Drifting started off with someone who was just bored of racing and decided to slide around corners. People saw how fun it was and decided to go out and do the same thing on the quiet mountain roads of japan. It wasn't made to be a sport, it evolved into a sport. It was just for fun.

...and if you're using a gyro you're not really driving... its all drifting, and AWD is kinda cheating but it gets you more familiar. some AWD's can be converted into a good RWD fairly easily, tire choices front+rear are more important with RWD setups.

✌🏻😎🏴Nice 👍🏻 There have always been 2 colours the Green is just harder to find. People preferred the colour red over green & didn’t buy as many. You’ll see green in stores that aren’t as popular or are further down the list in receiving their order. It might be a re release but I remember seeing it back a few years ago. I say drifting is when something that continues to move without using its own power to move or drift from one place to another or With power it’s as follows 2WD is Drifting & 4WD is Power Sliding 😝😜😂🤪 I’d buy both but if you can only afford 1 I would buy a 4WD. It’s easy to turn a 4WD into a 2WD but try turning a 2WD into a 4WD. It’s not so easy 😂.

The people complaining are probably kids that doesnt even have a license. 20 years ago, RC drifting are all done in 4WD cars. It started with locking the diffs, throwing in a front 1 way. Then it evolved into CS (Counter steer) where gearings were changed to make the rear wheels spin more than the front. It is essentially still a 4WD cars and it lasted for quite awhile. RWD RC drift cars only appeared probably just about 7 to 8 years ago. And it has alot to thank for the OGs RC cars and community. Without them, RC drifting wouldnt have evolved into what it is today.

AWD and RWD drifting are just different but they are both drifting. AWD can drift by definition, slide sideways around corners, but it doesnt really hold up with tandeming with an RWD, RWD cars can hold a nice long steezy stylish drift around long turns on medium low speeds and thats where the AWD is limited, it needs speed to hit those long drifts like you see RWD cars do, of you had a RWD in the front of a tandem and a AWD in the back, the AWD is going to either crash into the front car or come out of drift trying to maintain that slower speed the RWD is going at in front of it
