Great video tutorial. I also watched your other 2 track day vids. I've been trying to find suitable track pads for my m4. Are the Ferodo ds2500 pads any good? Are they noisy? Any fade at all after your track session? How do they cope with wear? Do they wear out discs fast? What brake fluid are you using? Sorry for asking so much questions lol
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
Happy you’re asking questions! And thanks for watching. The pads are great. I used to get a few track days out of them. You can go up a level but then daily driving suffers. These are good for both. They squeak sometimes. Nothing too terrible. I’ve never experienced fade with them. Any performance pad will wear out the disc faster but these rotors are massive so I’m not worried. Regarding the fluid I’m using Motul RBF600 amzn.to/2FnI9NG
@RCFunTime6 жыл бұрын
Cheers buddy for your input. I used to use ds2500 years ago on my scooby setup and wanted to check who is using on f80/f82, so I Searched on forums and found one guy said they wrecked discs and said it's for lighter cars. Now that you're actually fine with them I guess I'll go for them too. Was also looking at pfc 08/11 pads as an alternative. Do you remember if the Motul 600 have a different colour to stock fluid? Helps if they do to know when to stop bleeding haha

DoubleTap DMR Anytime. I’m glad I could be of help. Regarding the color of the fluid I am not quite sure. I was the one pressing the brake and my friend was the one doing the bleeding by the caliper. Tom Lawrowski I’ve yet to see a real set of unbiased testing that shows that a ‘bigger’ brake set up is going to have a significant improvement over the stock system. The bigger brakes aren’t that much larger, if at all in some cases. But there are better brake pads for both daily and track use that you can see improvement from. SRF brake fluid and cooling are really the route I would try first. If you are still unhappy then you can add a BBK and improve it further. I have a brake cooling thread on Bimmerpost.

I have this calipers from stock and now I have a problem. I just bought some 17" wheels for winter season but does not fit because of the caliper. Anyone with the same issue? Can you fit on your car 17" rims?
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
Catalin Savu Does it not fit even if you space out the wheel? What if you got some spacers would that work? Although I know with the M3 the minimum size is 18 inches
@catalinsavu67015 жыл бұрын
@@TommyLGarage It doesn't, the brakes are m4 brakes from stock. The only thing I can do is to sell the 17" wheels. Bad luck for me.

I literally look at all your video and have been doing all the maintenance with ease. But Can you edit less and everything you use in your vlog.
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
Exotic Evolution when you say edit less you mean to add more detail ?
@i3446796 жыл бұрын
@ Tommy L Garage Yes, just a tiny bit more little details on your how to do videos with your camera angle, for more close up on particular part with lighting, but even with your current video I feel as though, its real easy to follow, but would like to see more video time watching you actual transitioning your process to the next step. But don’t misunderstand, you have good editing, but the how to do parts - really dummying down for people like me is really helpful. Haha You have great content and will continue to follow

Tommy L Garage i am changing my pads too next few weeks to ebc red stuff for the front. Mine is f32 435i. I just want to know it is hard to take out the sensor? I toon pads out 3 times before to lube. But failed to pop out the sensor. I didn’t have to back then but i do now since it is going to new pads. I ‘d love to re use it on my new pads.
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
It’s super easy. Grab a set of pliers and just pull them up. They sit on a little spring but they’ll pop off. Just don’t squeeze them too hard.
@tommytexter40546 жыл бұрын
Tommy L Garage i also apply lube on top and bottom edges of the pads according to bmw repair manual. Plus, use a brake pad separator (maybe not call this name) to expend the piston, much easier.
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
Good points Steve. I skipped the top and bottom lube and get some squeal here and there so maybe I may have to do what you did. Thanks for the tip.
