Great info! Also, the bloopers are a good addition. It's reassuring to see even experienced judokas make mistakes

I have watched this video many times than i decide to execute my first tomoe nage (not yoko tomoe nage) and the results was a perfect ippon. Now maybe next lesson i will try yoko tomoe nage ... surprise for who will be my uke. Thank you very much.

The blue judoka has his right hand on the top of white's left sleeve ... 2:54 ... I like that ... having the grip on top of Uke's sleeves gives you a much stronger grip! Oss.

Sensei, I like your version when you said: "control your opponent left wrist with your right hand." I will try your version. I usually have my right hand on Uke's left sleeve. Oss.

Uh uh those last two bloopers are how I throw Yoko Tomoenage; across my body and I use my legs like scissors to turn uke to his back then roll on top into tate shiho gatame. I have never been able to get the feel of this more classical version you show.

And when you go down in preparation of the "tomoe nage", in any IJF (International Judo Federation) competition, be sure not to grab the belt or lower than the belt on the thrown person. You will get a "shido" or warning. Get two "shidos" for doing this no-no, that's a "hansoku make", and you lose the match by default through disqualification. Be sure that you throw above the belt in these cases.
