BTW, re. your comments about difficulty with beans being wedged into the bottom burr when trying to clean, this should be corrected by following the Instruction Manual which says to "run for 10 seconds with an empty bean hopper to clear beans/grounds from the burrs and grounds chute."

I have had one of these for about a year now, and I am pretty happy with it. Is it the best grinder on the market? Absolutely not. But it's the best grinder anywhere near this price point. I got mine used in great condition for just $40! I use it daily for espresso. I don't have a fancy espresso machine, but between this grinder and my cheap espresso machine, the machine is definitely the limiting factor for me.

On my grinder I could hear the grinder running but nothing was happening. At the end of the video you said the port just above the collection cup can get blocked - and mine was totally clogged, so I cleaned that out with a pipe cleaner and it works great again. Thanks!

I recommend weighing your coffee beans first and after the grind. More accurate and will produce foolproof coffee. Every professional barista uses a scale for a reason. The timer is useless.

The timer is good if you want to walk away and not have the machine running after the beans are ground. Yes always weigh beans!

You did a great job. I just got one of these. Two things: 1) the container tends to "dance" off it platform as the grinder vibrates. I have to hold it on. 2). The timer dial vibrates and changes with each grind. I have to reset it each time. These two drawbacks may be peculiar to my machine, only, If a design flaw, then OXO, who usually make great products, slipped up on this.

CORRECTION! My daughter, who's very smart, discovered that I was putting the container in backwards. She turned it around, it clicked into place, and it seems to have solved that problem. Maybe that somehow fixed the timer vibration. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Glad you solved that, I've had one of these for at least 4 years now and never had an issue. As the instructions say... before trying to take it apart to clean it... just run it with the hopper empty. Once I found my grind for espresso, I haven't had to change the setting at all. I am going to play with it a bit when I get an open bottom porta filter that I've got on order and have another chance to play with weighing out my ground beans by weight. Amazon Basics scale that I just got yesterday indicates I'm getting way less weight in beans for brewing than I thought I'd have... 30ml of ground beans is less than 10g of weight.. I was expecting to dial in around 16grams. New portafilter with open bottom basket might change that.

Should the grinder blade be tight or loose inside? I've cleaned mine numerous times and it take twice the amount of time to get the same amount of ground coffee like it used to do.

Whats the ideal way to clean the grinder burrs on this OXO, and how often does it need cleaned if you dont plan on switching between various beans?

The best way is to use a vacuum to suck out all the ground coffee left over, the blow it out with a blower. but I usually just take it outside and blow it out with a blower, it makes a mess but its quick. the top grinder blade comes out and you can wash it to clean it.

I would also suggest if you're using oily dark roasts, to get some par boiled rice and run it through your coffee maker at least once a weak. My burrs are clean and just have to be dusted off once a month.

I just bought one and I’m disappointed. The first time I used it, I found little tiny strands/fibers in my ground coffee. I’m not sure what it’s from. Maybe it’s little fibers from the packaging that got inside the machine and the burr?
