I bought the Simple Key Replacement Kit and I’m trying to set it up but I have tried 3 times and have gotten the Error 4 and Error 5 twice. Now it has drained my battery and my car won’t crank. I’m still excited to get this product and hopefully I can get it working properly.

Update: I realized why my battery drained, it was user error. I forgot to turn off the a/c and radio while I set it up. After I got a battery booster jump start from my lady and let my car run for a little to charge the battery back up. After it charged and I turned everything off I was able to set it up and it works well now! Great product, I would recommend it to others!

after 3 fob failures over time with 1 fob left, i changed the battery in my fob because it was weak. after battery was changed it no longer worked. i am getting the run around by tom keys. i was also told that because i have a aftermarket remote, there is nothing they could do. i have been using these keys over 8 years. now it is an issue. they said i was EXTREMELY lucky they worked. that was there last message to me. zero help

Hi, I did program the new key, but the original problematic one didn't and the red security light with the key symbol keeps blinking even with the car off and the device unplugged. Now I'm afraid of starting the process again and messing the new key. (Original one was dead even with new batteries but could start the car by holding it to start button).

I have an after market remote starter (Avital) installed on my 2018 Altima. It has its own separate remote that can start the car and open the doors and trunk. Will the programming and reprogramming of key fobs with this device in any way affect the functionality of my remote start?

The car DID NOT come with a remote start, hence the aftermarket unit. I asked the question because I once went to a service that did keys cheaper than a dealer, but he warned that my after market starter might need to be reprogrammed once he programmed a new Nissan key to the car. In short, he said that programming new keys would wipe out any "keys" to the car and this might or might not include the aftermarket remote start and its fob. Do you have any idea on how your device would effect that separate fob that can start the car?

So what does Error Code 4 and Code 5 mean? I have tried a couple times to program the fob(s). The first time I forgot to program the old FOB and the New FOB worked. The second time I got Error 5, the third time I got Error 4. The third both FOBs stopped working. Trial and error, I got the old FOB working (still not sure how I managed. Fourth attempt, neither FOB worked. I was able to get the old FOB working again. I called your customer service number and waited for 30 minutes (the estimate was 14 to 18 minutes). I'm going to try again when the weather cools a bit. Really wish you guys picked up the phone.

Great question. Nissan programming starts by erasing all fobs. So if programming gets stopped in the middle your original fob will not work. Doubt I’ll get an answer but the box the new fob comes in specifically says “only FCC ID ending in 4014 will work with simple key. The one I was sent in the box is X32-NSSSG010. Does this mean the one that came with the programming device won’t work?

FCC ID is specific to the manufacturer. So the original Nissan has one ending 4014. Because the aftermarket fob is from a different manufacturer (not Nissan OEM) it has a different FCC ID X32-.... But it is compatible with the OEM 4014. So it will work.

No. This is a quality product that will last as long as you own the vehicle. You will need to change the fob battery every few years. Recently we had a customer report back that they were needing to change the battery every few months - turns out there was a problem with it. We sent a replacement fob and everything is great for that customer. We are here to help if you run into problems.

As long as your vehicle came from the factory with remote start, then the remote start button on this key will work Only original vehicle remote functions will work. This product can not add new features to the vehicle.

All of the FOBs that I got with my Nissan Altima 2013 stopped working all at once. Replaced the batteries and still nothing. I am not sure why this happened but it is obviously not the FOBs that are broken but something in the vehicle itself puked. I was told that troubleshooting it would cost me hundreds of dollars to fix this. (Nissan Service Center) I will order your kit but if the issue is with the vehicle and not the FOB. I suspect this will fail. We will see.
