I was a mechanic and worked near Chicago. Rust was a constant, I'm not sure if you have an oxy-acetylene torch, but if you do, start blasting that rusty stuff. I have saved countless rusty brake fittings and rusty bleeders by getting them hot and spraying them down with penetrating oil. Obviously don't heat a caliper or wheel cylinder until you cook rubber seals or blow a piston out, but heat is your friend with rusty vehicles.

Got to say that I love that blue on the fender. If you can get more of that paint, please do the whole car. Somehow it just works. Honestly a whole part two of properly finishing up the list that you didn't finish today would be great. Like getting proper shocks so it is actually drivable while slammed. Finishing the interior. And making the front brakes work. You could go the extra mile and put a front Locker for the brakes too. You can do burnouts without cooking the back brakes

Use the family trick. Just plant a seed. "I need/like/could use/want some tools." Once family hears you like something, you'll get it for birthday/Christmas. Downside: You will get tools and only tools FOREVER. Edit: It'll probably be low quality tools. If you don't already have it, GREAT. Up your arsenal and upgrade later!
