@@adaptableadventurerider they really are I can’t bring myself to watch the video where yours had those expensive issues, that’s such bad luck - I hope you managed to get some recompense from the seller for that I got that slightly wrong, it’s 21 years old, previously owned for 19 - still a long time 😁

Oh yep thats a really long time very awesome! Luckily my dad ended up helping me with the funds otherwise I would have had to sell her spares or repairs as I'd spent everything I had buying her. Just looking forwards now with her an many adventures to come.

We spend most of our time out in Derbyshire. Intresting that you have a R1150 considering all the bikes you have owned. I ride a black 2002 non ABS R1150GS - standard not ADV might see you about I will certainly recognise that bike. Have you met the retired fire fighter yet with the same bike as yours? He’s done over 400,000 miles on it - truth.

Hi mate no doubt we will bump into each other :) I actually came close to selling the 1150gsa this year as I needed to raise some funds for a house move then saw sense n decided to sell my rd350lc project with 3k of nos parts on it instead which im just getting ready to advertise. They certainly get under your skin the 1150gsa couldn’t imagine being without mine now just done all the rocker end floats and valve clearances made another massive improvement again :) I haven’t yet but I can totally believe it I’ve a few friends with over 200k on there’s.

@@adaptableadventurerider It’s my first bike so I have nothing to compare it with. Saying that though I also own a BMW R850R but it’s very similar to the GS with short travel suspension

Monsal Head! lovely part of the world and a great pub. Moved to Australia from Chapel en le Frith four years ago so don't have to put up with any of that 'it's -3' nonsense anymore. Currently researching my next bike suitable for mainly long distance with a bit of off-roading and wondering how many of us have arrived at this clip via Long Way Round. Cracking show and a legendary machine. I think I've decided which bike to get! - Thanks!! :-)

Thanks David no problem at all glad you enjoyed it an the clip brought back some memories for you :) an yep aha great pub been to it many times to warm up unfortunately was shut that night o.o I bet Aus is amazing a friend of mine moved out there an the riding looks truly awesome quite a bit different to the trail riding I've been doing on the Tenere 700 I got for dad an I! I'm really gonna miss my 1150 unfortunately my dads got stage 3+ advanced prostate cancer so a few bikes have had to be sold off as we are downsizing the house the 1150s next on the list but I keep holding off from doing it. Such is life I think it say's alot about it. One of those Iconic machines! If you can track one down as they are rare get a factory none abs like mine or look at the earlier single spark if you want the abs just steer clear of the servo brakes. I think the 1150 edges the T7 for long distance but the T7 is the better trail bike all swings an round abouts an different pros an cons been an interesting few months :)

Hi thanks for taking the time to comment its not it's an old Garmin Zumo XT sat nav :)

I took delivery of one of these for a friend back in 2003! I had a single garage and this bike is so big, it took up the whole garage! Too big and heavy for my liking!
@adaptableadventurerider10 ай бұрын
Thanks for taking the comment I bet that was super cool seeing one new! Yep they sure are a big motorcycle an the weight is something you have to be aware off as I mentioned at the end. Completely different to the Honda 300 Rally I had previously (had GS's in the past) it's certainly an experience :)

There is no problem with ABS II I had on mine R1150GS white and blue 2001 to 2018, it's ABS III had many costing problem (to replace). Put on it transparent sticker front light protection, my friend and me had to change it because a stone break the light.
@adaptableadventurerider10 ай бұрын
Thanks mate yep I forgot about the earlier single sparks with abs II it's a shame BMW moved in the servo brakes on the twin sparkers. My dad's German car got scrapped from the same era after servo brake failiure. Wasn't cost effective to repair. That's a good idea on the headlight I used to have a clear cover on my 2018 gs Rallye. Thanks for taking the time to comment. :)

Hi Miro I’m 6foot 2 with a 32” inseam I fitted GS height shocks and a gs height stands so that lowers both the centre of gravity and seat height massive help in managability :)
