You missed a very important piece that you didn’t remove, the two screws that holds the emotion tube holder. It has two torx tamper resistant screws, it needs to be removed and replace two o-rings on the plastic tube. For some reason not one rebuild kit has these o-rings so you need to order 1mmx12mm ID and 14mm OD. These get brittle and can break, when so they will leak and your carb will run rich.

Hey Tom liked your video. Just a little help for you. I understand all Japanese Equipment have what looks like Phillips head screws. When trying to remove them like your friend did they end up getting stripped. The problem is that they look like Phillips but are J.I.S. or Japanese Industrial Standard. Most people assume Phillips and in doing so ignore the reality and how the assemble works. Phillips is self removing in that when torque is achieved the screw driver jumps out. JIS can have a torque setting and not. So what is needed is a JIS screwdriver. They are not common but can be sought out and the nice part is that JIS can be used in removing Phillips. Just thought you could add that to your tricks.
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures11 ай бұрын
Thank you, I have been using JIS drivers for several years and mention it in many of my videos. Always good to keep putting the word out, it’s how we help people learn.

Great video, thanks. You took a lot of time to show everything clearly. One lsuggestion I have for your workbench is, clean up all the drill shavings and other debri before putting all those brand new parts on the bench. Is it possible that some tiny particle may be picked up off the workbench with one of the parts you're installing, and block the tiny carb orifices? Could be a nightmare to track down! I worked in an engineering company factory, and we got a lot of training on FOD (Foreign Object Debri). Thanks again for your great contribution to we MC mechanics.

Just bought a TTR 225 and 125. Have not ever worked on one of these carburetors before. But it's basically identical to the ttr225 that I'm working on. Wasn't quite sure how to get the emulsion tube out because it's so seized in there. At least I know I'm going the right direction tried to push it up. This entire carburetor was filled with some sort of green dye or something. Whatever it is it's thicker than 90 weight gear oil. Sure that's was in my tank as well. It won't even hardly dribble fuel out of the petcock. So yeah I'm going to have a lots of fun. Get all that done and then I get to work on the 125. I did fiddle with it a little bit and got it running but there's something rattling. I think it may be the timing chain tensioner. But it's also smoking so it could be the Piston itself I'm just not sure what the exact compression should be. I don't have a compression tester small enough for that size head. Just another tool that I'll have to go by.
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Жыл бұрын
The fuel turns green and thick after it sits a long time. If you search my channel I have worked on the 125 a lot as well. Good luck.

Just bought an XT225 03'. Running really bad on deceleration and full throttle. BE CAREFUL WITH THE PLASTIC COAST ENRICHMENT COVER! Its very prone to breaking. Decided I would do a carb rebuild just so I know what has been checked and fixed. You talking about the o-ring at the top of the coaster enrichment cover made me realize mine was broken at that right angle. Purchased a new one from Rocky mountain ATV MC and went to install it with a new o-ring and BROKE the same spot on the new one... Guess I torqued it down too tight. I ordered another and I'm hoping it fixes everything!

Thanks for the Vid! BUT from the point when you drill out and remove the idle air-gas mix screw plug cap, I noticed you do the entire job on top of that black cloth that is glittering with drill shavings(and other particulate debris). Please update to set correct float height its .56 to .59 front front flange which angles up. You measured from middle flange that would make your float to low. Thats why there was a 1/4 space. Measure from front float was correct to begin with.

I don’t know if anyone makes an aftermarket unit for that bike, so OEM may be your only option. The TTR225 is a very similar model so parts from that machine may work as well. eBay may have some used parts if you want to go that route. Good luck!

It might run with that carburetor but it probably won't run right. You can either buy a new carburetor through Yamaha for a lot of money or try to find a used one on eBay or somewhere else. Otherwise a Chinese carb from Amazon could work, but they are hit or miss on how well they work.

@TomsTinkeringandAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I used Google translate, so hopefully I got it right. You want to change the carburetor diaphragm. You can order just the diaphragm for many carburetors, I am not certain if you can get it by itself for this model. You may have to order the entire slide with the diaphragm. I have not changed on on this model, but it's usually a snap ring type of a clip on the top of the slide. I hope that helps, good luck.
