Hey! Just wondering where you would recommend the knobs to be on the tone x one? Since there arent numerical values im kinda eye balling them. Like the main parameters, gain, global volume and trim?

Hey brotha do you recommend the input trim at 8.5 to get the most out of your presets? Also I use mostly single coils: (Blondies and Ristrettos to be exact) what number choice of the amp captures would you recommend? I know it's all subjective but just a base feel for what you think would make it shine the best. TIA man
@thetoneshepherd8 ай бұрын
Yes, 8.5 for Input Trim is what I use. And for bright single coils I designed some AC30 presets for that purpose! But eventually all the amps will be updated with “warm” presets for single coils. As far as the number (gain) level, that’s totally subjective. I have humbuckers with lower output than some of my single coils so you just have to do it by ear.

I believe mine and Tone Factor. Not sure about the others. You’d have to touch base with them to see where their ideal setting is.

Hey Devan, this had me curious. I remember you'd previously been using the TF Tonex patches. Of course I'm not expecting you to dog on them or anything like that, but I'm wondering why the switch? Did you feel like you were lacking something or that something needed "fixed", or would you say it was more about just wanting to have your own specific tailor-made sounds?
@thetoneshepherd6 ай бұрын
Nothing at all to dog on the KINGS of tone! Tone Factor kills it! But I wanted something a bit more..."me"...for lack of a better term. Just trying to learn from them but take a step more towards originality. My amps, to my ears, are a little brighter than theirs on purpose...but still have plenty of warmth. And I also have some different amps than them too (and more on the way!) so it's been a fun way to keep me learning about what makes great tone and be able to harness the goodness of a real tube amp to then share with others. It's been a blast. But I totally support Tone Factor (I still own all their captures) as well as Worship Tutorials, Tone Junkie, AAW, etc. Every capture is a little different and can serve different guitars or different songs accordingly.

So if you take the exact same capture and hard pan them on each Tone X, does it have phase issues? I only have a Walrus Canvas so I’m wondering.

You do have to be careful with which amps pair together. I'm insistent that all my amps work well together and I've worked hard to make them complimentary.

Hi, I'm using my pedalboard with the dsm simplifier and also its fx-loop with some effects (reverb, delay, trem...). How can I use amp presets from the tone x one with my setup? Maybe connecting the tone x one to the dsm fx-return? I'm a little bit confused why no one talks about the tone x one and the missing fx-loop. It seems, that it doesn't matter, but I don't get it🤪🤪
@thetoneshepherd8 ай бұрын
The simplifier is an amp sim already right? So you’d use one or the other, not both in tandem. Unless perhaps you loaded overdrive captures in the ToneX.
@markusjung83638 ай бұрын
Right! It's an amp/cab-sim. I think I'll just try a little bit, maybe tonex into fx-return and bypassing the cab-section of tonex. Would you or do you use tonex as your amp/cab-sim with all your effects in front? Thank you for your support!
@thetoneshepherd8 ай бұрын
@@markusjung8363 Bypassing the cab section on ToneX doesn't yield the "best" result in my opinion. Captures that have been intentionally done of the amp head alone work best for that purpose. I do use my Tonex (2 of them) at the very end of my chain for stereo amps. No need for the FX loop.
@markusjung83638 ай бұрын
Do you have any overdrives before the tonex? Do you use overdrive before or after the modulation effects? I don't like overdriven sounds going into delays or Something Like that.
@thetoneshepherd8 ай бұрын
Overdrives before the amps, yes. I put everything before the amps actually. Comp > Pitch > Drive > Modulations > Delay > Reverb > Amps

Great playing and quality of the video! I love your demo. I am curious if tonex one and tonex have difference in terms of sound quality or EQ difference (some say big box has more bass, but it can be adjusted by turning the bass knob) considering this, one’s not better than the other right? and secondly, why do you prefer tonex or tonex one over Uafx amp sim pedals??
@thetoneshepherd7 ай бұрын
They do not have a any difference in tone. I did a specific video on that subject! kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5e7fWyGnrRqnpI I prefer the Tonex over UAFX simply because I love the tone of my own amps and I get to capture those precisely.

Yes and no. I’ve always preferred my hybrid analog rig and was previously using Iridiums on that rig but moved to ToneX. I still have the FM9 and still plan on releasing presets for it. But that’s been delayed.
