So, I prefer to keep a compact board to keep things relatively simple(r), and I'm considering a TONEX ONE (potentially with your amp and drive captures), but have questions about signal chain placement. For a stereo sound, I've got a JET Revelation which I think would be best at the very end of the signal chain; the only other wet effects unit consists of a TC Electronic Plethora X3, which I'm thinking would be best after the TONEX (and before the Revelation), right(?), since you could have the TONEX out be to a stereo TRS Y-cable. I've also got a Source Audio ZIO Analog Front-end/Boost which would be right before the TONEX. Would this set-up sound about right to you? With your drive captures (paired with the right amps), I could configure the gain stages with very high-quality ODs/boosts without needing other external units at the top of the chain, I would think. Welcome your thoughts on this.

You got it right! For me personally though, I like my wet effects in front of my amps. So I have two Tonex ones coming at the very end of the chain. But you could just do one, with a split Y cable, and put yours after if you like.

Is it possible to use these Drive captures and add them with some other third-party amp capture on the same preset? Build my own complex rig using two captures... I don't know if you'll be able to understand my doubt...

You are not able to load two captures on one hardware device. The overdrives could be captured with the amp when the creator sets up the capture, but not afterwards. This is where having multiple ToneX pedals can come in handy. I use a few of them on my board so I can have stereo amps and have one dedicated to overdrives.

Are you running your wet effects into both Tonex pedals? I was thinking of running the Tonex to have clean, drive, and solo, but I think I like my wet effects hitting the amp like a traditional pedal board, but not sure what the set up here is. Thanks!

All of my effects are in front of the amps. Comp > Drives > Wet Effects > Stereo Amps

​@@thetoneshepherd How would I do that with the captured pack? In my mind I'm thinking I would do Comp > Wet Effects Pedals > Tonex? Is there a routing in Tonex that would put the captured drives before the wet effects? The Tonex is new to me and I'm thinking about getting it since my Helix died a few days ago.

Ah, I see what you're saying. With Tonex you're only able to use it for one thing at a time. You can either load up an overdrive preset OR an amp preset. You can't load up both an overdrive and an amp at the same time--you'd need a Tonex pedal dedicated to each.

No need for midi! In fact, these can’t connect to midi even if you wanted to. But these drive captures are meant for both the big box and small box ToneX. If you want midi, the big box version is your ticket.

How’s the germanium boost vs the prickly pear? Which boost do you lean into more?

The Ger Boost is a bit warmer and set more subtle so I use it for times when I just want to take a lower stage drive and give it a little “more”. But the PP is my main lead boost which I pair with higher stage drives to really drive the amp hard.

Hey man! I've been capturing my drives with my apollo and capture unit and it feels like it gets close BUT never has the same clarity and all. Any ideas? Also would love to see your stomp capture setup.

Great question! End of chain! Both of my boosts go at the end.
