I bought one 6 months ago and love it! Favourite setting is 2 room. I found it eats dry cell batteries and bought rechargeables which are much better though I had to loosen the back screws to make them fit as they are slightly larger than dry cells. Fitted to a Maton125 acoustic.

@jonhartmusic
@jonhartmusic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Russ. Thanks so much man. I’ve had a few people mention it was a boring demo because I don’t start playing until 10:20, but I thought a breakdown of the setup and then a playing demo was the best way. So I’m so glad you found it useful. All the effects are set so you can’t combine them - not sure if they’ll do this in future. But when I pop the delay setting on it does sound immersive so maybe the reverb is on at the same time. I’ll have another play 😁

And should I buy an extra bracket? Many thanks ahead Jon.

Since I’ve acquired the TWA I’ve been using my amp less and less for practicing as the unit helps me immerse myself into my playing. It also gives me a great idea of how a composition or arrangement could sound during mixing. It’s enhanced my sound, playability and has lifted a lot of my ideas into compositions and arrangements. If you have multiple acoustics and plan to use the device on all of them I’d buy an x-brace for each guitar :)

@@MrTenny52 For practicing I would just use the dry natural sound of an acoustic or I'd plug into an Acus One 6. But the TWA gave that instant wet reverb sound that feels like 5.0 stereo compared to an amp that feels far away. I find the TWA and an amp have different experiences. I prefer the TWA for it's immersive, quick setup and portability - especially for jamming and pre-gig (green room).

Damn, he just Autowhat-ed the HELL out of that guitar! One thing he missed, though, is the fact that it't not really an amp, and therefore is NOT going to sound like an amp that you plug in and play from its' speaker. No exactly. Because there is no speaker involved. The units is actually vibrating the guitar using the guitar's own signal from the pic up. In a strange way, you might possibly call this an "acoustic" amplifier (IE the guitar actually BECOMES a speaker). I will be speaking more in depth of this in my KZbin series "The Acoustic Rabbit Hole." But my point there is that he is saying, for example, that he loves that it makes it easier to amplify his guitar with the Tonewood Amp, instead of having to carry around an amplifier everywhere he goes. What people are not understanding--even professional guitarists---is that the Tonewood "Amp", actually changing the very CHARACTER of the instrument, as well as NATURALLY increasing the guitar's own loudness. There are new recording possiblities that i feel even Tonewood does not really understand. Mercedes (or is it BMW?) is already installing this technology into the walls of some of their new cars. (I'll include that info on my channel as well, if anyone is interesting). LOVELY post and long live your passion, everyone! -- Cheers, from The Acoustic Rabbit Hole

Excellent playing. On a scale of 1 to 10, you're a thousand, I'm a strong three. Nevertheless, I ordered my Tonewood amp a couple years ago, but have not installed the x brace inside my guitar because it doesn't yet have a pickup. I've used the amp with my 12 string (w/pickup) many times and have gotten amazing sound on certain settings. Eventually, I'll get around to ordering a couple more braces so I can attach the amp properly to all three of my guitars (I've just been using painters tape for the 12 string). Anyway, my two 6 strings are smaller body acoustics, one a Simon&Patrick concert hall guitar and the other a Taylor GS Mini (bought for my daughter, but I play it too).The primary reason for installing pickups in both is to be able to use the Tonewood amp. Can you recommend a pickup that won't break the bank? I'm leaning towards the K&K Pure mini.
@jonhartmusic
@jonhartmusic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, thanks so much for your kind words and comment. I've never used a K&K Pure mini before but I hear great things about it - K&K are a fantastic company. LR Baggs are also a good shout. I've always gone down the Fishman route - along with the built in Fishman piezo on my Cole Clark and Martin, installed the Fishman Rare Earth Blend (magnetic and mic - rewired stereo) and send all 3 pickups out to a Bose T1 for live mixing. The Fishman Rare Earth Blend (£250 range) does require a lot gain though. For Tonewood Amp I tend to use the built in Fishman piezo or Cole Clark 3-way pickups. The cheapest magnetic looks like the Seymour Duncan - I haven't tried it but I imagine there are some KZbin breakdowns. A magnetic pickup is definitely the easiest to install. Hope that helps and please let me know how you get on :)

Rosvel Valdez, I own a TWA too.. it's more of an effects unit for acoustic guitar than an actual amp, the acoustic guitar volume will not be amplified or made 5x louder.. for silent or small venue gig you might get away with it but for larger concerts, you will still need an acoustic amp or have your guitar mic'd. btw, did you place it in the most optimal position of your guitar? What setting is the volume and gain on? Did you set the notch filter for optimal volume without distorting? TWA allows you to have effects without getting your pedals. I think it's more of an inspirational tool.

Gear is a very personal thing and I'm super picky when I research, purchase and even do a demo on it. Not way would I promote something like this is if I didn't love it and the sound it produces. The video was shot with an iPhone and the built in mic, so you're not going to get the full immersive experience. The reverb etc resonates around like surround sound. Top that with the light weight, portability and subtleness of device, it's pretty ace :)

I cringed, watching him bend the neck of the guitar over and over. Hope he has a good luthier on call!

AND a lot of people comment before they read the video description and pinned comment with timestamps 🙈 It’s a deep dive breakdown demo and then a play through demo at the end. It’s great for serious guitarists wanting more detail 🙂
